VISA INFORMATION
International students who do not have a resident, diplomatic, dependent, working or
spousal visa must acquire a Japanese student visa. To obtain a student visa while living
outside of Japan, it is necessary first to apply for a Certificate of Eligibility (COE).
TIU will submit visa application documents to the Japanese Immigration Bureau on behalf
of admitted students if students submit all necessary documents to TIU by the designated
deadline.
The visa procedure for accepted students will be processed by TIU International
Exchange Office. If admitted students have any question, contact TIU International
Exchange Office (E-mail: etrack-student@tiu.ac.jp)
If you are a student visa holder who already resides in Japan at the time of
application and your visa expires before enrollment in TIU, you are required to visit
the Immigration Bureau of Japan and extend the visa on your own as TIU cannot
extend the visa by proxy before enrollment. Applications are accepted three months
prior to the date of expiration.
1. Submit the required documents to TIU before the student visa application deadline.
Enrollment fee must be paid by the specified date.
3. It will take the lmmigration Bureau approximately two months to approve the visa
application and issue a Certificate of Eligibility (COE).
st
5. After confirming the payment, TIU sends the COE via mail to the student
6. Student takes the COE and passport to the nearest Japanese embassy or consulate.
7. The passport is stamped with the student visa and returned to the student.
The student may now enter Japan.

Is there any scholarship with admission to TIU? Can I get both a tuition
reduction scholarship from TIU and a scholarship from another organization at
the same time?
On page 5 of the Application Guideline, you can find information about the
Tuition Reduction Scholarship. You are eligible for TIU tuition reduction
scholarship even while you receive scholarship from other organizations.
What are the criteria for deciding the rate (30% - 100%) of Tuition Reduction
Scholarship?
I do not have a credit card. How should I pay the application fee?
Contact E-Track Office in advance and we will give you payment instructions.
I'm an international student, and I'm concerned about tuition payment. Please
tell me about payment schedules. After I enroll in TIU, how many times and
how much do I have to pay in one year?
14
Application Requirements
Q
Are there any specific courses that have to be completed and grades to be
achieved during a standard 12-year education in order to be considered for
enrollment? Is there any particular GPA to be achieved, or compulsory GCE
A-level subjects?
Credits may be transferred. Since our English track degree program started in
2014 and we dont have courses offered higher than the second year in 2015,
transfer is possible only to the second year level.
Application Documents
Q
I would like to apply for Spring 2015 enrollment, but I do not have a valid
official score of an English test. Can I submit it later, after the deadline?
No. All required documents must be submitted during the application period.
Yes. You can ask your Japanese language school to prepare a letter of
recommendation.
I took the TOEIC test one year ago, but I don't have the official certificate.
You can ask the test organization to reissue the certificate. Check the following
website for the procedure.
http://www.toeic.or.jp/english/toeic/guide04/guide04_03/guide04_04.html
Please note that your score is valid only for two years from the test date.
After graduating from high school, I studied at a university for a year, and then
two years in a Japanese language school in Tokyo. Do I need to send you both
of my school transcripts?
You must submit the original transcript from the high school. The transcript from
the university is not compulsory at the time of application for enrollment as
freshman, but your credits might be transferred, so we highly recommend that
you submit the original transcript from the university as well. We do not require
a transcript from the Japanese language school.
After my graduation from high school, they gave me all the original academic
transcripts and my high school only keeps a copy of those documents. Can I
send the originals to TIU by myself directly?
