Color Dimensions
San Jose.A new, vast field of
color dimension was opened last
week to the nearly 1000 delegates
to the annual convention of the
Rosicrucian order (AMORC). In
ternationally represented, members
of this fraternal, philosophical or
der witnessed five days of lectures
and demonstrations in the fields
of art, science and philosophy at
the orders headquarters in San
Jose.
Erwin Watermeyer, technical
director of the Rosicrucian Science
museum and laboratories, conduct
ed the experiments, pointing out
that colors are caused by certain
definite rates of vibration of very
high frequency. Such vibrations,
when reaching the human eye,
arouse within the brain definite
color sensations. Through several
experiment*, using human subjects,
Watermeyer explained that there
exist three fundamental powers

Rosicrucians To
Observe Fete
Of New Year
The re-enactment of a ceremony
which began in ancient Egypt
more than 40 centuries ago will
be the high light of a local Rosicrucian conclave to be held Mon
day in the Palomar hotel.
According to Paul J. Veatch.
master of the Rosierueian Pron- j
aos of Santa Cruz, the ancient
Egyptians, from the time of Mem*
phis to the Ptolemaic period, be
gan their New Year on or about
the time of the vernal equinox,
when the sun enters the zodiacal
sign of Aries, which always oc
curs on or about March 21. This
was considered the beginning of |
the new year because spring is
symbolic of new life empha- i
sized by the reawakening of Na- '
ture from the dormant period of
winter, and the growth of living j
things.
The occasion of the New Year
Is celebrated, said Veatch, by a
symbolic feast in which the par
ticipants partake of simple foods
corresponding to certain basic
elements of Nature, such as: salt,
com. and unfermented grape
juice.
