Definition:
Proof-of-concept (POC) – a test to demonstrate the capability of a
theoretical design typically limited to a laboratory environment; An
evaluation of a technology/solution/application/product designed to
test its impact and integrity when exposed to real-world (i.e.
production) scenarios in a GM-like environment. A distinguishing
characteristic of a POC is that if successful it may become the basis
for an IT Standard request.
