Sold under the name Narcan, naloxone is a fastacting drug that, when administered during an
overdose, blocks the effects of opioids on the
brain and restores breathing within two to three
minutes of administration.
In April 2014, the FDA approved a handheld autoinjector device containing injectable naloxone
called Evzio. The device employs voice prompts to
guide the user through the accurate administration
