what positive influence does the sharia bring to countries in which it is

implemented?
Answer: In the case of the Philippines, some of the positive influences sharia
bring to this Country are the following:
1. The Philippines recognizes the system of Filipino Muslim Laws manifested by
the codification of P.D. 1083 otherwise known as the Code of Muslim
Personal Laws of the Philippines;
2. It promotes the advancement and effective participation of the National
Cultural Communities in the building of the society;
3. Shariah Law and its principles of equity and justice, to which the Filipino
Muslim Communities adhere, provide an essential basis for the fuller
development of said communities in relation to the search for harmonious
relations of all segments of the Filipino nation to enhance national unity;
4. It redounds to the attainment of a more ordered life amongst the Muslims in
the Philippines;
5. It strengthens all the ethno-linguistic communities in the Philippines within the
context of their respective ways of life in order to bring about a cumulative
result satisfying the requirements of national solidarity and social justice;
2. how would you recommend that this law be implemented; a total implementation
or the implementation of only some clauses? do you think that the
implementation of the sharia in muslim sectors only is possible?
Answer: I would recommend that this law be implemented in its full or total
implementation because as a Muslim, we are required to observe Shariah Law in its
fullest sense and not only part of it. However, at this modern and present world, we
have to observe Shariah Law in conjunction with the present situation or actual setting.
In the case of the Muslims in the Philippines, we have t observe Shariah Law taking it to
consideration the Fundamental Law of the Land, the Constitution. This is illustrated by
the forthcoming signing of the Bangsamoro Basic Law. All the provisions of this
Bangsamoro Basic Law is qualified by the phrase in accordance with the constitution of
the Philippines.
Yes, the implementation of the Shariah Law is only applicable in the Muslim sectors and
nothing shall prejudice non-muslims. In fact, this was happened before as was
manifested by the application of the Code of Muslim Personal Laws of the Philippines.
This Law is only applicable to the Muslims in the Philippines subject however to the
proviso that when one of the parties is a Muslim and the marriage is solemnized in
accordance with Muslim Law.
3. our paper proposes that countries contemplating the implementation of the sharia
law base their decision o on the percentage of the population which is muslim,
meaning that if the country's muslim population reaches a certain percentage,

then the sharia can be implemented nationwide. do you think that this is
reasonable, or do you have any other recommendations?
Answer: Yes, this is very a reasonable arrangement or principle because you cannot
govern Shariah Law to a non-muslims as this is a violation to the Constitution. This
scenario was implemented in the Code of Muslim Personal Laws and even the
proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law. One of the provisions of the said law provides to the
effect that The provisions of this Code shall be applicable only to Muslims in the
Philippines and nothing shall contain to prejudice non-muslims... This is a fair principle
and I think we cannot change this arrangement.
4. what conflicts with the country's legal system could this arrangement bring, and what
would be possible solutions to these?
5. in your opinion, is the sharia a good way to enforce discipline/order in society?
6. what can you suggest in order for the sharia to be more effective?
7. if the sharia law is implemented in the philippines, will it lower the crime rates and/or
boost the economy?
