How to find right balance between no of mock tests
given & learning/revising new/old concepts in last 30 days? 2. What one should do on consistent basis to build the momentum till the point you actually give CAT?(despite temporary setbacks and lack of focus) 3. How did you develop/hone your test taking strategy in last 30-40 days? I avoided taking full length mocks. Only took a couple as far as I remember. Instead I went for chapter wise tests. I started revising in the last month. I concentrated more on RCs which was my weakness. I solved complete RC material. Avoid taking tests in the last week. No need to learn new things unless they are very important. You can concentrate more on weaker parts. Plan your timetable for 30 days. Don't leave anything. Study a chapter. Take a test on that subject. Also, at the same time do solve mocks q that you appeared for. Aman S 99.67%ile While analyzing each mock test, I also kept revising the concepts associated with the problems I found difficult or undoable. Learning new/old concepts and appearing for mocks goes hand in hand. Just don't panic. When appearing for mocks is too time consuming, you should keep appearing for small module based tests provided by many coaching institutes to keep up the momentum.
Last 30 days I took just 3-4 mocks only! No more mocks,
just analyzing several past year papers and mocks is the only thing to be done then. Yes. Don't ever think this is the only exam you have to conquer. Always keep the backup exams in mind, including GMAT even if you want this to be the only achievement ever! That keeps you bold and reduces fear of doing bad in the test....and better to keep a job in hand for those working (for same reason) Abhirup S 99.7%ile IIM-Lucknow Before 30 days of mock I believe one shouldn't start any new topic rather focus on giving mock atleast twice a week and do a thorough analysis of them. 10 mocks are advisable but any number between 8-12 is good. People generally Tend To study more n more new topics few days before CAT,I'll suggest that in place of starting a new topic you can try to do more mocks and DO THEIR ANALYSIS part very seriously, also videos like Smart Quant Cracker will give you an edge over others All I did was gave 3 mocks a week and did their analysis part, nothing else. Rajul N 99.7%ile IIM-Calcutta Give atleast 3 tests + analysis in each of the first three weeks of the last month. One should not write more than one test in the last week. Concept learning should be a simultaneous process.
Analysis is a must. One should look at the concept of the
questions that one was not able to solve in the mocks. Its good to have a repository of the questions that have given one trouble in the past. My test taking strategy was section specific. I concentrated on the section where I scored relatively lower percentile or had greater incorrect answers. Then I drilled down into the area of the questions, say I had problems in solving a 4 set questions then I tried to gather different types of question on 3 sets 4 sets and solve them. Similarly if I had problems in solving questions involving integer solutions I would gather all similar questions from previous mock papers and solve them again. I would use this strategy across both the sections and sub sections. Sulekh J 99.8%ile IIM-Kozhikode
