Environmetal Problems

Racu Ion, Emrei-134

Over the past couple of years, our environment has changed very drastically. One main reason is
because humans dont take good enough care of the Earth. The world today is vastly different
from what it was before urbanisation and industrialisation had taken its toll on the world. The
earth is considered one of the most beautiful planets in the universe. It is the only planet in the
galaxy that has enough water to support life. Unfortunately, the planet is suffering due to many
environmental problems that may affect people, societies, and ecosystems. These problems can
result in major consequences for everyone life. One of many causes that are damaging our
environment is global warming. Another cause that is damaging our environment is the air
quality. The major environmental problems that are facing the world today are deforestation,
global warming, and water pollution. One of the biggest problems facing the world today is
global warming. Many scientists believe that our production of carbon dioxide and other
greenhouse gases is having a heating effect on the atmosphere, and this could be very dangerous
for human life. Many problems could result from global warming. One of the biggest problems is
rising sea level. This could result in the flooding of low lying coastal areas and cities, such as
Egypt, the Netherlands, and Bangladesh. Some countries might even disappear completely!
Another problem caused by global warming is changes in weather patterns. Many areas of the
world are experiencing increased hurricanes, floods, and other unusual weather. A third problem
associated with global warming is the effect on animals. Fish populations could be affected,
while some insects which spread disease might become more common. There are several things
we can do to solve the problem of global warming. One solution is to stop producing C02. We
can do this by switching from oil, coal and gas to renewable energy. Another solution is to plant
more trees. Trees absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen, which is not a greenhouse gas. A
third solution is to use less energy and to recycle more products. Generating electricity is one of
the main sources of carbon dioxide. If we use less electricity, we will produce less C02. Pollution
is an issue of concern in the modern world that we live in today. There are many types of
pollution, namely air, water and noise. Pollution in our environment will undoubtedly affect our
quality of life. Our naturally beautiful world becoming ugly because it is suffering from the
effects of environmental pollution. Pollution can also cause various health problems and other
negative effects. Air pollution is caused by the emission of toxic gases from vehicles, factories
and open burning. Nowadays, there are more and more vehicles on the road as society gets more
affluent. More and more people strive to have a better quality of life by having the convenience
of driving to their destinations instead of taking public transportation. Automobiles provides
transport to millions people around the world to enable them to travel to their workplace, school
and other places, therefore, the air around us is getting more polluted by the carbon dioxide that
is emitted. Another example of contributor to the air pollution is the manufacturing factories. The
manufacturing of products in factories to meet the growing demand of society is also causing air
pollution. Factories release toxic gases to the environment. Some factories also use coal to
generate heat and energy. As a result from the burning of coal, carbon dioxide is released into the
environment. Water pollution is also a problem that we are currently facing. The marine life is
the first to suffer from water pollution as they depend on the nutrients in the water to survive. As
a result, we are robbed of beautiful sea corals and unique species of fishes. Besides ruining our
marine heritage, the disappearance of marine life will affect the livelihood of fishermen, not to

mention our source of food. Water pollution is caused by harmful waster from industries, farms
and sewerage systems which are dumped into our sources of water such as rivers and lakes. This
irresponsible act contaminates our drinking water and can cause serious health problems and can
even culminate in death. Most people today agree that it should be as economically as possible,
in the use of natural resources, especially energy and to limit pollution. Environmentalists claim
that sometimes the producers should clean production process, that limit the amount of waste and
emissions they produce, or they will be forced to close. Manufacturers often said that it is often
cost-effective to clean and impossible if their competitors do not face the same constraints.
Moreover, if all polluting industries were closed, the economy would collapse. They suggest that
many environmentalists are ignorant or simply naive when it comes to the economy. Some
producers give financial rewards to those who save energy use, and pollute less, and penalize
polluters, but without the use of taxes. Many environmentalists disagree, as they see pollution as
a moral issue rather than an economic one. Another problem is deforestation. Deforestation is
increasing as a global concern. In recent years deforestation has risen to dangerous levels.
Deforestation is the permanent devastation of native forests and woods. Deforestation happens in
many ways: when trees are cut down to grow crops, for livestock, logging so wood can be used
for building things like houses and furniture, for roads and neighborhoods, for firewood, and
forest fires. Although there may be a need to cut down trees to some extent, humans and other
species need to protect the forests and woodlands. Trees are not just beautiful; they also are
house for many kinds of plants and animals that could become extinct with deforestation. They
also provide good things for humans and for the environment. Deforestation disrupts the carbon
cycle. The forest trees take carbon dioxide as well as pollutants from the atmosphere. When the
trees are destroyed or burned or left to rot, carbon is released into the air as C02 and methane. To
stop this action it is impossible but to reduce it we can, for example to recycle paper, to
economize paper use. Generally speaking we must underline the fact that people dont have
enough knowledge in this field of pollution. To develop this, government must implement some
educational programs from early ages in institutions like schools, and even in university to keep
it in mind that environment represents our everything. To sum up I may say that is our choice to
life in a better world or not, this is our planet and we must save it for the next generations.
