Chapter 3 brings about Paul going back to Jerusalem, this visit is particularly

important because after 14 years he goes back to Jerusalem.

There has been a lot of debate about this 14 years that have passed. It is
argued that these may be the time since he got his calling (Acts 6:7), the
time he spent in Arabia or his first visit to Jerusalem.
The main goal for this verse is to contrast the amount of time and his
attachment to Jerusalem and the counsel there located.
This counsel seems to have been led by peter himself

Why titus and barnabus

Acts 11:22 and 25 signals that he has his first grat partner in the gospel, he
was jewish in nature.
Titus was fully gentile. Greek in nature. He was mostly used in tough places
to go, such as Corinth 11:19-27
The church at Jerusalem makes his be circumsiced due that he was fully a
gentile

Maint point one: Why did paul really go

Subpoint one: In response to a Revelation

1. This tells us that, same as the other apostles, paul ad access to the
gospel itself for the mouth of the Lord.
2. He was not worried about the validity of the gospel he preached, as it
was given by the Lord himself, in Galatians 1:8 he affirms this
statement by putting to curse anyone who ever preaches another
gospel
3. HOWEVER, pauls certainty was not in play but his fruitfulness was.
4. False teachers taught that Pauls gospel was an easy gospel, that it was
not backed by the original apostles and that Judaic forms and rituals
must still be followed.
5. This seems to be the main reason why paul when up there, to put to
sleep all the possible doubts about his gospel itself. By getting backed
by the apostoles themselves, the false teachers would have no
argument againt the gospel that he preached, as for most false
teachers were Judeisers.

Application of point one.

False teachers claimed : not all jewish are Christians but all Christian must be
jewish.
DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR???? DO YOU KNOE OF CHURCHES THAT REQUIRE YOUO
TO BE MEMBERS TO BE SAVED???
>>Honestly it was never about the Judaist rituals and circumsizion but the picture
is bigger
-

These false teachings diminish the work of Christ in the cross for us. It
leaves grace behind and puts focuses on works. Turns us into self

sufficient people that can become acceptable to God by being

righteous on our own which in reality, is wrong. For we are seen by God
through the blood of jesus Christ and this itself makes us acceptable
before his presence.
Example, titus himself was a test for the apostles. Him being fully Greek, would he
be sircumsiced?
Side note: Since Christs first coming, God care none about the outside aspect
(verse 6). Circumsicion is a major topic that is too long to talk about during this
time but in reality, it has always been about the heart of the person. (Deuteronomy
10: 14-17). He has always been focused on the submission and obedience of his
people.
It was necessary for the apostles for reaffirm and reassure the gospel being
preached by Paul for this major reason. Christianism is not a modification of Judaism
itself, instead Its an stand alone Good News that can be spreaded to every nation
and every tongue and every culture.
THE GOSPEL IS FREEDOM
Could we be free if we followed some rules as these false teachers said we would?
Or in modern days, would it be freedom if we were limited by the things we could
and we could not do to be save and have specific ways to live their life about? (1
corinthians 10: 23-26), we are not subjected to the obedience of the law as means
for salvation any longer BIG HOWEVER we are subjected to it by means of gratitude.
Jesus himself said so). Matthew 5:16-18. For we are called to be the light of this
world
Part 2
Do not add anything to the gospel
As Christians we have more in common with the African person in a small village
than with the athist neighbor across the road. We are called to accept anyone in
Christ as our own (verse 4).
How is that going with anyone of yall?
The danger of over adapting and under adapting
Over adapting leads the person to turn the gospel into something it originali wasnt.
it becomes a way to be united through the culture itself, of the mannerisms of the
actions as means of bonding rather than Christ alone. These things may also create
legalism to the point of what started as traditions get to the point of non
negotiables. Before leaving Christ gave us 2 commandments: the breaking of the
bread and the gospel preached to every nation.
Under adapting, shields new people for coming into church and seeing what the
gospel is about. In actuality we run church much more different than the apostles
originaly did.

Verse 10: the poor

AS Christians we are called to see after the poor and the widows and sinners
Matthew 9:10-13 gives us a sight of Jesus in his daily endeavors. Eating with the
lowest of this world.
The ministry of mercy was big in the earlier church Acts 6:1-7 shows.
Unity in the church through Christ Alone is important, and as his people should be a
duty of us tho reselve this unity and use it to reach other people to Christ
