Tennis anyone? Help us welcome back Rod Dulany to Ocean City as our new Director of Tennis -again. Rod was the driving force behind the restructuring and rebirth of tennis in Ocean City back
in 2003 before he moved on to take the prestigious role as the Executive Director of the United
States Tennis Association/Mid-Atlantic Section (USTA) . Now we are thrilled to take advantage of
his retirement from USTA. If you enjoy tennis, youll LOVE what Rod has in store for you.
Swing into action at Eagles Landing Golf Course, the areas premier public course, offering an exceptional golf
experience along with a scenic drive along the Sinepuxent Bay. Attractive rates, outstanding course conditions,
delicious food, a wonderful golf shop and gracious service await you. Make your tee time today by calling 410-213-7277.
Rad man! The Ocean Bowl Skate Park has the distinction of being the longest operating municipal skate park in the
world! So, grab your board, your pads, and your helmet, and carve to your hearts content in this historical park. Just
remember, if youre under 18 years old, bring your parents along to sign the required waiver.
We are thrilled to, once again, partner with Best Aquatics to offer kayak and stand-up paddle board rentals at
Northside Park this summer. Group tours, sunset paddles and more will be offered where you can enjoy the beauty
of the bay and surrounding marshes. And dont forget to check out our new Kayak Camps scheduled throughout the
summer.
I invite you to take advantage of these and the many other attractive amenities our parks and recreation facilities
have to offer. Inside this guide you will find a healthy listing of unique youth camps, FREE family events and activities,
beautiful parks and play areas, and plenty more to fill your spring and summer months with FUN and ACTIVE

is now surrounded by a
lovely and practical picket

DINOS ON THE BEACH

You wont want to miss a photo and play opportunity at Ocean Citys newest
play structure on the beach. Dubbed Deeno by a local Councilperson,
the new T-Rex beach play structure is sure to entertain local and visiting
children with its bony head, ribs and tail climbing sections, along with three
climbable hatching Dino eggs. The structures are made of PolyFiberCrete and
weigh from 1,325 to 2,750 pounds each. It is expected that Ocean Citys new
dinosaur will excite the creativity of young residents and offer a fun play spot
for visitors along the boardwalk at 3rd Street.

NEW LOOK FOR SUNSET PARK

Formerly the site of the 1800s Atlantic, Wicomico & Pocomoke Railroad,
Sunset Park, located at South Division Street on the bay, received a face-lift
over the winter months. The makeover included an expansion of hardscape
and modification of its native landscaping. The changes provide an expanded
event venue, better views of the elevated stage, and a more open feeling to the
park. Bricks taken from the original railroad terminal site were used to outline
the new pervious pavers and mark the historical significance of the space. Come enjoy the new look at one of this
summers Sunset Party Night events, or drop by on any evening to enjoy a beautiful Ocean City sunset.

OCEAN CITY BEACH RULES

The Town of Ocean City

Beautification
Committee
works in
partnership with
the Department
of Recreation
and Parks to bring the beauty of the trees
and color to our barrier island town. The
volunteer members are appointed and
commissioned by the Mayor and City Council
to help determine the needs of the town for
the planting, maintenance, and protection
of all trees on the streets and in the parks
of Ocean City and to make referrals for the
enforcement of the landscape code.
Every year the Beautification Committee
along with the second grade students
of Ocean City Elementary School do an
Arbor Day celebration in late spring for
the town at Northside Park. During the
festivities, the Mayor is presented with the
National Arbor Day Foundations Tree City
USA Award and the MD P.L.A.N.T. Award
which is administered by the Maryland
Community Forest Committee. Each summer
the committee tours the town to review
nominated properties for Beauty Spots
Awards which the Mayor and City Council
will present in September. In January, a
long desired project of the Beautification
Committee came to fruition with the building
of a beautiful water feature at the Roland
E. Powell Convention Center. The funds for
it were raised from donations to the lovely
metal sculpture, Reflections of Life, inside
the convention center.
Donna Greenwood serves as the Chairman of
the committee and the members are Jennifer
Albright, Eleanor Curcio, Steve Genua, Joyce
Melocik, Donna Reid, Nancy Smith, and Toni
Wagner. Visit the committee on the web at
www.oceancitymd.gov/bc/ or email them at
