Anuban Weekly Outline

This week we are learning:
Circle Time Review
This week we are going to review the
topic of living and non-living things
briefly by getting the class to give me
examples of living and non-living
things, asking what is the differences
between living and non-living and
checking spelling. Then I am going to
introduce the new topic of plants and
the lifecycle. I will explain about
plants using the focus vocabulary
outlined in the new words section

Activities and worksheets:

Plants booklet identifying the different parts of a plant and what they do; identifying
different types of plant and how they differ.
Germinating, planting and growing mung beans over a 2-3 week period children must
water the plants and make sure they have enough sunlight to grow.
We are going to be making paper flowers
Making plant displays and exploring the interactive plant board.
Sentence structure:
What is this? This is the leaf.
What do the roots do? The roots feed water and nutrients to the plant.
We are going to use the flashcards for the focus topics to play games such as splat,
duck, duck, goose and flashcard draw. This is to learn the vocabulary that we will be
using during this topic.
We are going to learn the Plant Life song (based on Parklife by Blur).

This week in science the students will

continue to study materials. We will
review all of the materials that we
studied last week and classify different
objects into different material groups.
We will also continue to discuss the
descriptive adjectives for different
materials eg: heavy/light, soft/hard,
see through/not, shiny/dull etc. The
students will complete matching
activities in their workbooks and
comparison charts.

Parts of a plant stem, roots, leaves, flowers, fruits, seeds, trunk etc.
Different types of plants trees, bushes, shrubs, flowers, grasses.
How a plant grows sprout, germinate, grow.
What a plant needs to grow water, sunlight, minerals in the soil.

This week in grammar we will continue to
study the difference between 'there is' and
'there are'. The students will be looking at
pictures in their workbooks and using full
sentences to describe them. We will also
continue to describe our surroundings
using these sentence structures, and
possibly take a trip outside to look around
and use different vocabulary. We will also
use this time to review the different plural
forms of words in the context of these
