Animal Aid
5 Best Campaigns

Heres a short interview

with Andrew Tyler,
director of Animal Aid

A warm welcome to our guests of honour Animal Aid at this

years VegfestUK Brighton!

Were delighted to be the special guests at this years Brighton

Vegfest, given that we are huge fans of the show and always look
forward to being part of it. Tim and all the Vegfest team have been
extraordinarily successful in creating a series of events that are a
great boon to the animal rights movement, while also appealing
to the general public because of the uplifting sense of fun that
characterises them!

Animal Aids Great Vegan Challenge is held every November and

continues to attract ever-increasing numbers of people who want
to give veganism a try. And the best news is that many stick with it!
You can take the Challenge if youre not vegan yourself or you can
encourage friends and family to take the Challenge.
Our Victims of Charity website highlights appalling, medically
worthless charity-funded animal experiments and has allowed
thousands of our supporters to take action against some of the
biggest funders of vivisection.

What you can expect from Animal Aid

at VegfestUK Brighton:
You will find the Animal Aid area just inside the main entrance, so
please drop by and say hello. We have an exhibition space where
you can learn all about our work and ways in which you can
become involved. There will be a cookery demo and a film show.
Our merchandise team will host an Animal Aid shop on the first
floor (stands H4&H8), where you will find a wonderful array of
vegan, cruelty-free goodies - and remember: you can order from
us online at any time via Animal Aids website. You can also claim
your 10 per cent members discount on all Animal Aid merchandise
purchased at Vegfest if you join up this weekend!

Heres a bit more about the Animal Aid

exhibition on the ground floor:

Campaigns:
Our campaigning work is extremely varied, ranging from powerful,
agenda-setting undercover investigations, to lobbying MPs and
senior Whitehall officials. But we always need your help to spread
the word about our initiatives. We can put you in touch with likeminded animal advocates in your area or your local animal rights
group, give advice about how to start a social or campaigning
group, and suggest many other ways to help animals.

Our horse racing campaign continues to shake the industry,

through the production of hard-hitting reports on notorious
courses such as Cheltenham and Aintree. Our secretly filmed
images of an injured horse being shot by a vet at Doncaster
racecourse recently made front page news and provoked a major
industry debate. Please come and chat to us about how you can get
involved in this campaign.

Take a look (below) at our some of our

campaigns.

Education:
Come and chat with members of our Education team who, every
year, send out thousands of tailored education resources to
teachers all across the country. In addition, our incredible volunteer
school speaker network give around 600 school talks each year,
taking a message of compassion to many thousands of children. If
you think that you may be interested in becoming a school speaker,
please do come and chat to Mark, Karin or Elaine!

Our new website, SlaughterhouseCCTV.org.uk, shows footage from

our investigations. A Government e-petition, calling for mandatory
CCTV in slaughterhouses, is central to this campaign. The goal is to
reach 100,000 signatures, thereby triggering a debate in parliament.
Youll be able to sign our CCTV petition at Vegfest, so please come
by and do so, and encourage your friends to do the same!
Our
acclaimed
and
groundbreaking
website
VoteForAnimals.org.uk helps you assess the animal credentials of
your existing MP, and to contact him or her directly. The site also
contains our five core General Election asks - a set of progressive
measures that, while they wont rid the world of animal abuse, will
alleviate the suffering of many animals. Please visit us to see how
your MP rates on our website!

We campaign against the shooting industry, using undercover

footage to reveal the true horrors of this bloodsport. Many
people are shocked to learn that nearly 50 million pheasants and
partridges are purpose-bred each year to be shot for sport.
We also campaign vigorously with help from local compassionate
people against wildlife culls. There have been a number of
successes along the way. Recently, for instance, United Utilities
in Warrington agreed to stop culling geese, and to use humane
alternatives instead.

And a bit about our history

Animal Aid was started by schoolteacher Jean Pink from her
Tonbridge kitchen table in 1977, and is now the largest animal rights
group in the UK.
I have been the director since 1996 and have seen enormous
change most notably the accelerating popularity of veganism
but also, in contrast, attempts by a commercial and political elite
to curb our activism on behalf of animals. Our movement has
adapted and outmanoeuvred every government crackdown, and
remains a formidable force and a voice for those who cannot speak
out for themselves the animals.
Andrew Tyler, Director, Animal Aid

Growing and eating low on the food chain offers many advantages
to both Majority and Minority World citizens. Efficient resource use
through eating crops first-hand is vital for food sustainability not

A Well-Fed World
What is a well-fed world?
all people have enough food, and the right kinds of food. The right
kinds of food maximize well-being and minimize harm to people,
animals, and the planet.
people are not under-fed and undernourished, dying by
the millions of diseases of poverty, such as: hunger, nutrient
deficiency, and dehydration.
people are not over-fed and malnourished, dying by the millions
of diseases of affluence, such as: heart disease, cancer, stroke, and
diabetes.

Dear Friend,

food is produced and distributed in ways that prioritize the

common good. The food system is one that nourishes people,
protects animals, and replenishes the planet.

Thank you for your interest in A Well-Fed World and our

dual-mission to feed families and save animals.
We are a hunger relief and animal protection organization
chipping away at two of the worlds most immense,
unnecessary, and unconscionable causes of suffering the
suffering of people from lack of food and the suffering of
animals used as food.
We use a multi-prong approach that supports plant-based
food and farming programs (especially for people in need),
animal care organizations, and a wide-variety of advocacy
campaigns.
We work bottom-up with grassroots groups to create an
immediate impact and top-down with social justice and
policy leaders to create long-lasting, structural change.
Our unique approach focuses directly on these two
interconnected and heartbreaking issues. Instead of feeling
helpless, we make a concrete
difference in local communities
and stand strong against the
so-called passive violence of
hunger and the overt violence
in factory farming and animal
slaughter.

School Lunch Programs
A Well-Fed World is proud to partner with the International Fund
for Africa in its initiating of two school lunch programs that have
already served more than 150 students, with the potential to
benefit thousands more. The basic concept of IFAs School Health
and Nutrition Program is to provide the most vulnerable students
those whom arrive to school hungry, with no food to sustain
thema hot, nutritious, plant-based meal each school day.
This endeavor commenced on May 9, 2014 at Agazian No.2 Primary
School (APS) with 75 students and at Sibeste Negasi Primary School
(SNPS) on April 21, 2014 with 82
students. The program continually
administers to these 157 children,
and is in the process of expanding to
other schools.

Consciousness
For Health,
Happiness And
Success
It is increasingly being
recognised that state of
mind is a hugely significant
factor in both health
(physical and emotional) and
personal achievement, but
what is less often recognised
is that we live in a culture
that chronically biases us
towards states of consciousness that undermine us both mentally
and physically. Drawing on his experience as a Hypnotist and
Meditator, and underpinning it with powerful scientific research,
James will show you how to shift your consciousness for living a

The Phoenix Rose

Shonalika

The Phoenix Rose lead singer Jarvis Smith

wrote the new single, Sick & Tired, a call to
people who want an end to dictatorships
and manipulation, which are founding
causes for the state of our planet. Strong
idea, but as Jarvis believes, music is
the best way to spread powerful and determined messages in
a peaceful manner. Sick & Tired is a catalyst to make people
consider their world, and hopefully engages them to realise their
own capability in insisting change.

Acoustic singer-songwriter with

roots in metal, Shonalikas sound is
distinct. Having spent a childhood
immersed in gothic subculture before
expanding through Brightons vibrant
music scene, her style combines folk,
grunge and rock with a dynamic,
powerful vocal. Dark and at times
aggressive, her songs directly address
oft-ignored and difficult subject
matter.

Best Vegan Sausage in the UK Dees Traditional Vegan Sausages

have been described as a step above your average vegan banger
and a game changer for vegans. Dee is a nutritionist and spent
two years developing her range of vegan sausages. These sausages
taste great and are the ONLY vegan sausages to be free-from soy,
eggs, gluten and all artifical additives - including the chemical
binder methylcellulose!

Dee makes food that is Good

for You and Good for the Planet.
Ingredients are carefully chosen
by Dee to lessen environmental
impact (palm-oil free and
GMO-free) and also to provide
maximum nutrition. The peas,
beans and seaweed are softly
blended with traditional sausages
spices such as ginger, pepper and
coriander then wrapped in a
vegan casing that is made from
rice flour. Dees range of tasty, clean, healthy foods are not just for
vegans but are an excellent choice for any person wishing to lead a
healthy, sustainable lifestyle.
Goodness is tasty!
As a nutritionist I believe when
you eat better, you feel better.
Its that simple. Thats why I use
only the best quality natural and
organic ingredients loaded with
health benefits and free of the
bad stuff; no gluten or artificial
additives, no soy, dairy, gmo or
wheat. And its meat free... Enjoy!
Dee

Dees range is ideal for health conscious individuals, allergy

GOOD Hemp products make a delicious and healthy addition to

a vegan diet as they contain an almost perfect ratio of Omega 3

to Omega 6, which means it can be utilised in the best way by the
body. Hemp seeds are also rich in protein and contain all of the
essential amino acids. The tiny seeds contain minerals such as
magnesium and iron too!
Not only is hemp extremely healthy but it is also one of the most
sustainable plants on Earth. Hemp absorbs around twenty five
times the amount of carbon dioxide that trees do and it also
makes an excellent home for wildlife. Sounds pretty GOOD, right?

Plamil Foods

Although many popular varieties of dairy free milky chocolate

are often marketed to children they contain more sugar than
most types of chocolate. At a time when the reduction of sugar is
recommended for good health reasons, most parents are looking
to reduce the amount consumed by the family and especially
their children. Fortunately this is now possible. A great tasting
alternative has been created.
Lots of This None of That is a scrumptious dairy free milky
chocolate bar that amazingly has reduced sugar. It is also gluten
and nut free. A 30g bar of Lots of This None of That still contains
less sugar than 20g of similar chocolate. Produced by Plamil, the
highest ranked Ethical chocolate manufacturer, Lots of This None
of That is made using renewable energy. This revolutionary new
bar is the future for dairy free chocolate. The cocoa is certified
under the UTZ Certified sustainability programme.
