For spans greater than 12 m, it becomes

economical to use steel trusses, as timber as a material for

trusses has become obsolete for various reasons.
Steel is the new-age building material and Steel Buildings
are resistant to moisture, adverse weather conditions like
cyclones, high velocity winds, heavy snow,
Earthquakes, termites and fire.

They are 100% customized using innovative state-of-the art

technology for faster manufacturing and erection.

Buildings can be erected in only 33% of time that it normally takes

to construct a conventional building. They provide you with
lifelong durability, safety and very
low cost-maintenance.

Industrial buildings
Any building structure used by the industry to store raw materials
or for manufacturing products of the industry is known as an
industrial building.

Commercial buildings
A building is that is used for commercial purposes such as offices,
retail, restaurants, hotels, convention centre, clubs, cinema halls
warehouses etc
Institutional buildings
A building intended for persons confined to receive medical,
charitable, or other treatment such as jails and other buildings
like schools, colleges, hostels, courts etc

These can be categorized as Normal type industrial buildings and

special type industrial buildings.
Normal type industrial buildings are simple roof structures on
open frames. These require large and clear floor areas
unobstructed by the columns providing sufficient flexibility.
They are constructed with adequate headroom for the use of an
overhead traveling crane.
Special types industrial buildings are used for manufacture of
heavy machines, production of power etc. Their function dictates
the degree of sophistication required.

Typically the bays in industrial buildings have frames spanning the

width direction. Several such frames are arranged at suitable
spacing to get the required length

Rigid frame consist of two columns and a beam or a girder that

are rigidly connected at their joints.

The arrangement and sizes of various members of a steel truss

depends on the span, loading and wind pressure.

Shear connections

Connections usually use transitional

elements such as steel angles, tees
or plates. The actual connections
may be riveted but are more often
bolted or welded

If top of the beam is to be flushed

with top of the girder, the top
flange of beam is cutaway

Simple frame Shear connections are

made to resist only shear and are
free to rotate under gravity loads.
Shear walls or diagonal bracing is
required for lateral stability of the
structure

Semi-Rigid Frame-connections assume

Beam and girder connections possess
a limited but known moment-resisting
Capacity

Small opening may be cut or

Drilled in the web, but large
Openings weaken the web in
Shear and require stiffening or
reinforcement

Movement connections are able to hold

their original angle under loading by
developing a specified resisting moment
usually by means of plates welded or
bolted to the beam flanges

If all components of the structure are fabricated

at a factory and only assembled at the site it is
know as PEB Pre Engineered buildings

Pre engineered steel buildings

Advantages

Larger clear spans ranging from 12M and above

Larger bay spacing thereby reducing the number of foundations
and columns
No welding is required at site and hence it can be erected at sites
where electricity is not available.

Advantages
They provide you with lifelong durability, safety and very low
cost-maintenance.
Better metal roofing and cladding system for aesthetically attractive
structures
Special building components like skylights, ridge ventilators, turbo
ventilators, sliding doors, windows, roof curbs etc can be supplied
and installed.
Dismantable and relocatable
These structures can be resold if required and a good percentage of the
cost of the structure can be recovered.

Applied loads produce axial, bending, and shear forces in all the
members of the frame since the rigid joints restrain the ends of
the members from rotating freely.
In addition, vertical loads cause a rigid frame to develop
horizontal thrusts at the base.

Various shapes of rigid frames can be fabricated of steel to span

from 9 m to 36 m.
Rigid frames typically form one storey structures used for
industrial buildings, warehouses and recreational facilities.

Rigid frame construction consists of following

1.Primary framing System
2. Secondary Framing System
3. Cladding
4. Accessories

Primary Framing System

The main frame is the main load carrying members of a structural
system which include columns, end wall posts, rafters and other
main support members.

Secondary Framing System

Structural members are the Purlins, Girts, Eave Struts and diagonal
portal frames bracing. Purlins support the roofing while Girts supports
the side wall cladding.
Purlins and Girts also helps in resisting part of longitudinal forces
generated due to wind or earthquake loads and they provide lateral
bracing to the compression flanges of the main frame members
thereby improving the primary frame capacity.

Skylight
Made of translucent GRP to match rib and wall panels, with an
estimated light transmitting capacity of 60 %.

Accessories
Advantages of Roof Vents :
Installation on new or existing roof is a simple process as the metal
base can be shaped on site to any roof profile.
In case of any difference in thermal and wind pressure, the turbine
head and ball bearings help the ventilator to rotate freely providing
natural ventilation.
It is corrosion resistant giving ruggedness to the structure.
The variable pitch throat makes it possible to be fixed at any roof pitch.
Its storm proof feature enables rain water to drain through without
spilling into turbine

Roof jacks
These are enclosures for pipes or
stacks projecting from the roof.
They allow for safe working on the
roof.

Ridge ventilator
This is a gravity type ventilator
which is provided with a bird
screen and mechanical Controlled
damper. Allows natural ventilation
of the building.

Louvers
They allow fresh air to come inside and prevent the entry of dust
and rain water
Removes dampness and humidity
