Title of Research: Impact of Strategic Recruitment and Selection on organizational Performance
(These are just citations leading to a conclusionyou have to add your own argument in between
as well)
Organisation behaviour should be increasingly directed towards the strategic pursuit of
competitive advantage (Porter, 1985). The strategic pursuit of competitive advantage involves
matching resources to the long-term direction of the organisation (Johnson and Scholes, 2002).
Human resource competence represents an important element of resource capability (Thornhill et
al., 2000) and is regarded by many as an organisations most important asset (e.g. Bratton and
Gold, 2003).Human resource management incorporates, as its principal feature, the alignment of
HR practice with corporate strategy (e.g. Bratton and Gold, 2003). Recruitment and selection lies
at the centre of human resourcing within organisations (Newell, 2005). Traditional approaches to
recruitment and selection are ill-equipped to contribute to the strategic pursuit of competitive
advantage (Thornhill et al., 2000).Strategically directed recruitment and selection has the
potential to make a significant contribution to organisational performance and the pursuit of
competitive advantage (Williams and Dobson, 1997).

Writing the Introduction: Reviewers Comments

These are Reviewers Comments taken from a Research Paper for effectively writing the
Introduction Section
It is unclear why the particular variables were selected.
The model is poorly specified or explained.
Need to explain why particular variables were chosen as mediators/moderators.
Lacking theory behind focal constructs and relationships.
Theories are discussed, but not effectively used as the framework for the research.
Arguments are unclear, inconsistent, and not always compelling.
Need to clearly state the purpose and contribution of the studydo this early in the paper.
Need to articulate what this study adds to the extant literature.

Explain how this is more than a replication study.

Need to highlight/emphasize the novel contribution of the study.
MOST IMPORTANT
The introduction of the paper delves immediately into the specific research scenario. I would like
to see the author(s) spend a paragraph or two setting up the context of the research and
discussing what has motivated the research. Why is this an important problem? Before getting
into the conceptual model for the paper, I would like to see a clear statement of the purpose of
this research.
