The group began in November 11, 1999 as the Chicken
Sandwich Dancers which was an offshoot of the Danz Focus (house dancers of Eat Bulaga). At first there were four (Cheryl, Debra, Janine and Rochelle). The groups death-defying stunts made Streetboys different
from all the other groups. They became the more astig UMD. They were also very popular that time? Proof? The successful showbiz bid of Spencer Reyes (who was paired with a young Aiza Seguerra) and Danilo Barrios. However, the popularity of Vhong Navarro and Jhong Hilario was more successful in standing the test of time. Vhong is a respected host, comedian, while Jhong is a reputable character actor. STREETBOYS
ABZTRACT DANCERS
Abztract Dancers group was established in 1995 by the
former dancer/choreographer Zay Villavert. Original members: Dingdong Dantes, his cousin Arthur Solinap, and friend Dino Guevarra, and Sherwin Ordonez were some of the original members of the dance crew which became the regulars of the variety shows Eat Bulaga!" and "That's Entertainment during the 90s. New members: Michael Nolasco,Javerne Pasahol, Mac-mac Pelota, Jovel de Guzman, Jay Sison, Ike Fernandez,Harvin Dolores, Gerald Estrada, Raffy Ursua, Jacob Jesuitas. The group is not remembered for their dance moves, but for being the group of a young Dingdong Dantes. However, Dingdong was not the first member of Abztract to be given a solo showbiz career. Dino Guevarra was paired with Kim Delos Santos, while Sherwin Ordonez was built up to be a matinee idol. Undeniably, Dingdong may not be the first Abztract discovery, but he is the biggest showbiz find. He is, until now, one of the royalties of GMA Characteristics of a dancer Because of the rigorous practice schedules of most dancers, self-discipline, patience, perseverance, and a devotion to dance are essential for success in the field. Dancers also must possess good problem-solving skills and an ability to work with people. Good health and physical stamina also are necessary attributes. Above all, dancers must have flexibility, agility, coordination, and grace, a sense of rhythm, a feeling for music, and a creative ability to express themselves through movement. Because dancers typically perform as members of an ensemble made up of other dancers, musicians, and directors or choreographers, they must be able to function as part of a team. They also should be highly motivated and prepared to face the anxiety of intermittent employment and rejections when auditioning for work. To sum it up, a dancer needs a good instrument (body, facility and line), Good training and sacrifice to put the hours needed in. To add to this it is very important to be able to pick up steps quickly. No matter how well you dance if you cannot do this, you wont get work. Passion for dance, goes without saying. Who in their right mind would torture their bodies in this way if you didn't have that. I would also like to add, that looks matter too. Dance is a performance medium and you will be "cast" in each job you get. You need "stage presence". You should know that only 10% of the best trained dancers get work and even less of them can make a living at it.
