Dear Parents/Guardians:
Performing with excellence on the SOLs requires critical problem-solving skills and synthesis of required essential
knowledge, skills, and processes. In an effort to ensure that our students perform at optimal levels, the Lindsay
instructional staff and the administrative team have identified students that would truly benefit from attending Saturday
School to receive additional support in their core classes (Math, Language Arts, Humanities, and Science 8) to increase
student performance in these areas. Your child has been selected to receive additional support based on one or more of
the following criteria: (1) Teacher recommendations based on observations and assessment performance (2) Currently
failing or having a D average in core classes (3) 1st Quarter and 2nd Quarter Benchmark Scores, and/or (4) Identification as
a reading or mathematics recovery student based on SOL scores from the 2013-14 school year
Transportation will be provided with completed registration below. Your child must attend all sessions - attendance
is MANDATORY. The dates for Saturday School are identified below:
February 28
March 7, 14, 21, and 28

April 18 and 25
May 2, May 9, and May 16

Please have your child submit the registration below to their homeroom teacher on or before Tuesday, February 10th. It is
imperative that your child attends Saturday School to receive the additional instructional support and resources needed
to be successful on his or her grade level SOL. We know that with your support, we will be aligned with our school-wide
vision in empowering all students to succeed and encouraging lifelong learning. We thank you for your commitment to
excellence and we look forward to working with your child during Saturday School.
We have also partnered with 21st Century and the boys and girls club. Students may attend the Boys and Girls Club from
11-2 on days we have Saturday school. Students will then be taken home on the school bus. Please let mark if you wish
for your student to participate in the Boys and Girls Club after Saturday School.
Sincerely,
Emily Kelly, Saturday School Coordinator
