1 January 2014
happy and Peaceful New Year to one and all! There is no better wish we
can exchange on this day, for we need peace in our hearts, our families,
our nation, and throughout the world. So many resources are misused
or squandered. So many lives are destroyed by hatred and war.
But we are aware that real and lasting peace can come only if people
obey Gods law and if God blesses their efforts. And we know that He is ready
to grant us this most precious gift at the intercession of our Blessed Mother,
whom we honor today as Mother of God. May she bring the warring factions and nations to lay aside all hatred and start working together to build a
civilization of love, justice, and peace. Let this be the main intention for which
we offer this Eucharist.

P A proclamation from the
holy Gospel according to
Luke
All Glory to you, O Lord!
The shepherds went in
haste to Bethlehem and found
Mary and Joseph, and the
infant lying in the manger.
When they saw this, they made
known the message that had
been told them about this child.
All who heard it were amazed
by what had been told them by
the shepherds. And Mary kept
all these things, reflecting on
them in her heart. Then the
shepherds returned, glorifying
and praising God for all they
had heard and seen, just as it
had been told to them.
When eight days were
completed for his circumcision,
the baby was named Jesus, the
name given him by the angel
before he was conceived in the
womb.
