Sub: Public Services- Inter-district transfer Concession to relatives/ dependents of


killed in action- Further orders issued.

In the G.O. read as Ist paper Government have issued general orders to the effect that the request for
inter-district transfer of Government Servants who are dependents/relatives of Serving. Soldiers/ soldiers
killed in action or died while on duty in fied/forward areas would be sanctioned in deserving cases to the
district of their choice without loss of their original seniority in the new District. The above orders were
issued in relaxation of five year rule. But the directions in Circular No. 112960/SD1/82/GAD dated
18.12.1982 insist that all such cases should be placed before the Council of Ministers.

According to the existing rules all requests for inter-departmental/inter-district transfer from a
district of the erstwhile Malabar area to a district in the erstwhile Travancore- Cochin area and vice versa in
relaxation of five year rule should be placed before the Council of Ministers for decision

After considering the various aspects of the issue Government are pleased to order that the
inter/district transfer to the near relatives/ dependents of serving soldiers/soldiers killed in action or died
while on duty in the field/ forward areas need not be placed before the Council of Ministers for relaxation of
five year rule. The Circular No.112960/SD1/82/ GAD dated 18.12.1982 is modified to this extent. The
Dependency of the petitioner with the soldiers/ should be got verified through the District Collector
concerned before ordering the transfer.
