Biometric of Fingerprints F-1 Access System

Practical construction of the access system is used by the monitoring of fingerprints. When a finger is placed on the
reader a digital analysis are done by the fingerprint sensor and those are then compared to the samples stored in
the memory. If the finger print was stored in the memory, it is matched to the scanned image and output action is
carried out either the relay is closed for preset time 2 or 8 seconds (regime use for electro-magnetic door locks or
alarm control ) or the relay is alternatively opened and closed (first finger touch opened, second finger touch closed)
this regime is possible to use for any appliance or central office.
The kit is easy to use, because the basic module of the reader and the finger print sensor are already assembled.
Output control board scheme, which is supplied in an assembly kit and scheme of connection to fingerprint sensor
itself:
The connection thanks to the microprocessor is easy. The microprocessor PIC sends through communication line
(uTX) approximately 3 times per second inquiry to the sensor if the finger is placed on. If the sensor replies (through
the communication line uRx) that a finger is placed on the sensor then a command is send to the microprocessor
PIC to scan the finger for print and to compare the print with the ones in the memory sensor. The process is in
reality more complicated but if a match is found then the output operation is done according to the set up.

Module Connection:
The module is supplied by direct voltage of 12V. To the series with positive supply branch connect the fuse 0.5A.
Attention to the right polarity! Module is not equipped with polarity reversal protection against supply voltage.
After connection the blue translucence sensor light comes up and for about 1 second both LED as well system
initialization is in progress. Subsequently, short LED blinks signalize the communication between the sensor module
itself and the processor PIC. Red LED LD2 signalizes the sending of data to the sensor, green LD1 reception of the
data from the sensor.
Storing prints into the memory:

Push button TL1 on the printed circuit

Both LED lights up

Place finger onto the sensor area do not push!

The reading process is relatively complicated, double checking and sample digitalization is carried on,
therefore the time needed to store the fingerprint can take up to 4 seconds. Until both LED lights are on,
hold the still finger on the sensor.

After successful storage of the fingerprint in the memory the green LED will flash several times

If during the storing process the LED switches off (green LED is not flickering) an error had occurred. Print
could be unreadable, movement off the finger during the digitalization process and so on. The process
needs to be repeated.

If during the storing process the red LED flashes on several times, then the memory is full and it is not
possible to store more fingerprints.

Ordinary use:
Place finger on the sensor area and hold it there for about 1 second. Print is digitalized and memory is being
searched. If a match is found the output action is carried out according to the set up.

Relay function:
The relay can work in two regimes. If the jumper J1 is mounted on the printed circuit, the relay is alternatively switch
on and off (first touch on, another touch off ). If the jumper J1 is not mounted, the relay is in impulsive regime. On
the touch it operates for the set period:

If the jumper J2 is mounted, the time of relay operation is about 8 seconds

If the jumper J2 is not mounted, the time of relay operation is only about 2 seconds

(The relay times arise from experience using electromagnetic door locks. Shorter time is useful if the fingerprinting
sensor is placed by the door. Longer time in the case the sensor is placed further away from the door. Change can
be done on customer request.)

Memory capacity:
Though the memory is limited only to 50 prints, it was not intended to use the structure for 50 people (even it is
theoretically possible). For such a number of users there will be need to mark individual prints, have the possibility
to delete them and so on this simple structure doesnt permits it.
The large memory capacity supposes to serve as support to the structure as one person can store more prints,
scanned in different positions. That way safer decoding is guaranteed and practical use will become more
convenient. If you store finger print only once, in reality problems arises during print reading, because your finger is
placed on the sensor in different position then the stored one, with different pressure, with various dirtiness and so
on. Good advice then is: store the fingerprint a number of times, while applying different pressure and with slight
angular rotation.

Memory deleting:
Press the TL1 button down for about 5 seconds. First both LED will light up continue holding. Once LED start
simultaneously flicker let go of the button memory is deleted.
Security:
Using the jumper J3 its possible to set up two levels of security (resolution). If the jumper J3 is mounted the sensor
works with high digital resolution. In practise it is sufficient to use routine regime (jumper J3 not mounted).
Use of routine regime is also recommended by us the print reading is more reliable and until now no error has
occurred. The high level of security is intended for the use for example in vaults and depository boxes.
Environment:
Sensor is intended for dry environment. Especially printed circuit mustnt come in contact with humidity. The sensor
itself (prism) can be placed in suitable box by the entry door, but its necessary to ensure it is not exposed to direct
rain. We recommend place the sensor horizontally.
Reliability and guarantee:
The authorization technology based on finger prints is relatively young, though digitizing algorithms are constantly
improving; it is not possible 100% guarantee the reliability as it is for example with code locks, mechanical keys and
so on. Its possible that there might be some people which might have problem to store they print in the memory,
eventually have problem reading it. Even it could apply to 1 person out of several hundred and during the structure
testing we didnt come across any problems; but we consider it fair to notify you.
Development next structures:
This simple structure is the first one in this price range. The basic module options were used. In the case of further
interest we can develop more complicated system up to several hundred uses, with the possibility of editing
individual prints. The structure could be fitted with the output RS232 or USB for PC connection. All depends on
customer requirements. Yours suggestions and demands are welcome on e-mail development@pacificgsm.co.nz
