Seal off the mouthpiece with your tongue to increase resonance.

Page four is a simulation of a drum solo. By beating various keys on the


saxophone, drum-like sounds can be produced. For example, beating low
Bb will simulate a bass drum, while hitting the F key will produce a snarelike sound. Follow the suggested ngerings to produce the different drum
sounds. The keys need to be hit loudly in this section so that the drums
can be heard. To increase resonance, close off the end of the mouthpiece
and the reed with the tongue.

The Wa Wa effect on page ve is achieved by alternating between the


two given ngerings. The rhythm must be kept constant to provide a
contrast with the changing articulations.
