This scenario shows that a backup has failed on the O.G. There are multiple backups that
are done; these are on a daily, weekly, and bi-weekly basis. There are 6 different
types of database backups, they are excerpted from Worldview OG_3 OG
MEMDUMP ENTITY A136 and listed below:
BACKUP
EXTCPX
GISER
LOCAL

Generic dump of all processors for storage on the OG

Extension Complex database dump for storage on the OG
GTD-5 EAX Image Storage and Emergency Recovery
Local memory dump that exists before the RFDS feature is
enabled
SITEDB - Site database for uploading to the Neptune
server at AG Communication Systems
SITEMEM - Site memory dump for upload to the Release Operations
Center (ROC)

To find out what backup has failed, you must be logged into the BI terminal. Enter the
command: get memdump: <name>; (<name> refers to the name of the backup
as on previous page)
For example, inputting the command get memdump: backup; will output:
10:27:44 >> get memdump: backup;
memdump:backup
-dump_name
= BACKUP
-current_state = New
-time_created = 11/20/2009-08:18:36
-time_uploaded = N/A
-time_updated = 11/20/2009-08:18:36
-socl
= OFF
-svr_issue
= 4008-61
-processor
= all
-text_message = Memdump on 11/20/2009-08:18:36 succeeded
-workorder_id = 0
This output details when the backup was created, and all pertinent information, and will
also tell you if the backup has succeeded.
A failed backup will output similar to the following:
10:27:53 >> get memdump: giser;
memdump:giser
-dump_name
= GISER
-current_state = New
-time_created = 11/22/2009-06:12:42
-time_uploaded = N/A
-time_updated = 11/23/2009-05:20:53
-socl
= OFF
-svr_issue
= 4008-61
-processor
= apc
-text_message = Memdump on 11/23/2009-05:20:53 failed: GTD-5 Dump Job Failed
-workorder_id = 0
This output details when the backup was attempted, and the final status of the attempt.
To correct the failed backup, you must be at a UNIX prompt.
From the BI terminal enter: exit;

This will bring you back to the UNIX prompt

The command structure to initiate a backup is as follows: (This information is excerpted
from Worldview OG_3 OG UNIX COMMANDS A261)
Usage: memdump [disk[=directory]] { dumptype } { proc }
where proc is one of: APC CMU APCONLY ALL TPC TCU RSU RLU
where dumptype is one of: SITEMEM SITEDB GISER BACKUP EXTCPX
For the purpose of initiating a backup to the O.G. Hard Disk, the [disk[=directory]] field
will not be used, however, the { dumptype } and { proc } will. These values will
change depending on what type of backup is being initiated, and what data you
wish to be backing up.
For this example, input the command: memdump giser apc
On a successful command input, the O.G. will output something similar to the following,
showing a successful backup initiation:
memdump: Starting GISER dump from GTD5...
10:36:21
DUMP TO TAPE IN PROGRESS
10:36:21
PLEASE WAIT: CHECKSUM VERIFICATION TO PRECEDE DUMP
10:37:08
APC : 0 CHECKSUM ERROR(S) DETECTED
10:37:11
APC DUMP BEGINNING
10:37:12
COMPRESSED FORMAT

When you are done working in the O.G. input exit from the UNIX prompt to
disconnect.
