This and That

UPCOMING EVENTS

Ken May | Director of Missions

Sock It To Me was a popular slogan on the 1960s and 70s TV show Laugh In. Well,
our newest MBA congregation, Engaged Christian Church, is using that slogan in undertaking a
drive to provide new socks to local homeless shelters. However, in researching the needs, they
discovered that while socks would be appreciated and helpful, new underwear for children, men,
and women is a greater need. Realizing they are not large enough to have a significant impact in
this broad area, Engaged is seeking other MBA churches to partner with them. You will see their
ad on this page. Please consider getting your church involved in partnering with Engaged on this
project.
Since the last week of December, four men who formerly pastored MBA churches have
completed their earthly journey: Charles Stroud, pastor at Ridgecrest in the late 70s and early
80s, Charles Wynn, pastor of Woodley East in the same time frame, Burney Enzor, who
pastored Highland
Avenue in the mid
and late 70s, and
most recently,
Andrew Smith, who
pastored Heritage as
the church began in
its new location.
Andrew also served
a number of our
churches as an
interim pastor when
he returned to
Montgomery as a
state missionary.
Every one of these
pastors was actively
involved in
associational life.
They took leadership roles in MBA and served their churches faithfully. We have been blessed
by their faithfulness and give thanks to God for their service among us.

VERITAS at Eastern Hills

Sunday, February 15, 6:00 PM
3604 Pleasant Ridge Road, Montgomery, AL 36109
The unmistakable sound of Veritas brings a fresh
approach to the contemporary classical genre. These
five male vocalists sing both new and old songs,
delivering the sound of love, hope and excellence.

The Church at Pike Road, our newest church plant, has been meeting monthly since this
past summer and will begin meeting weekly for worship at Fairfield Inn and Suites on Chantilly
Boulevard at 10:00 a.m. starting February 22. Please keep Pastor Steve Walters and his group in
your prayers. Pray that they will connect with the unreached and disconnected people in the Pike
Road area. A special outreach meeting will be held at the Wallahatchee Fire Station on February
15.
Would you join a prayer effort for our Mixteco outreach? I specifically ask you to pray
that those involved in ministry to the largest unreached, unengaged people group in North
America, would connect with men of peace and begin planting a church in Montgomery. We
need to diligently seek Gods guidance and power for this effort. Our recent Mixteco Summit
was phenomenal and highlighted this need as we move forward.
Vacation Bible School training is just around the corner. No, its not too early to be
thinking about that! We had a training event for VBS Directors on January 27. Our first general
training session will be held at Taylor Road on March 17. Thats next month so be enlisting your
workers, and bring them to the training as we Journey Off the Map. Be sure to include a missions
component in your VBS and call on our office if you need assistance with that effort.
