Which?, German independent consumer-testing
organisation Stiftung Warentest, and Germany's
biggest motoring club, the ADAC therefore
recommend that children remain in rear-facing
child seats for as long as possible.

In rear-facing car seats, the force of an

impact is distributed evenly over a large area,
significantly reducing the strain on the neck,
shoulders, head and internal organs. The child
seat works like a protective shield and protects
the sensitive head and neck area. Consequently,
a rear-facing child seat reduces the risk of injury
in a head-on collision by more than 80% when
compared to a conventional forward-facing seat
with harness system.*

risk of injury in Group I seats compared to seats
in Group 0+ remains stable.

Statistically, the risk of injury in ECE Group I

forward-facing child seats with a conventional
harness system (9-18 kg, approx. 9 months to 4
years) is significantly higher compared to Group
0+ rear-facing baby seats (0 -13 kg, 0 - approx.
18 months), as the childs head is still bigger and
heavier in relation to the body. A babys head
is equal to 25 % of its overall body weight and
the neck muscles and spine are still not fully
developed. In a forward-facing car seat with
a conventional five-point harness system, the
shoulders of the child are held back in a headon collision, while the head is flung forward with
enormous force.
As a result, the cervical vertebrae can be
stretched by up to 5 cm with dramatic

For maximum safety we recommend using the

SIRONA as a rear-facing seat for as long as
possible from birth up to 18 kg (0 - approx.
4 years). The innovative design makes it
comfortable for children and provides plenty
of legroom. The easy-to-use one-click ISOFIX
system means no more fiddly installation of the
seat. And the danger of installing the seat in the
wrong way is reduced to practically zero.

Depending on their shape and size, older

children may have insufficient legroom when
sitting backwards. In this case, the CYBEX
SIRONA can also be used as a forward-facing
seat from 9-18 kg (approx. 9 months - 4 years).
In the forward-facing position, the child is
protected by an adjustable safety cushion. This
system works like an inflated airbag, which
absorbs the energy of impact over its entire
area. Compared to a conventional 5-point
harness, the strain on the neck is significantly
reduced. Whats more, in case of an accident,
the cushions new Active Response Technology
(A.R.T.) ensures that the child is intuitively
secured within the safety zone of the seat
(patent pending). Thanks to the new integrated
fastening system, it is also unnecessary to
fasten the safety cushion with the car seatbelt
(patent pending).

TELESCOPIC LINEAR SIDEIMPACT PROTECTION

The CYBEX SIRONA is

secured using the cars ISOFIX
system and requires no further
fastening. A prop at the front
helps to absorb the force of
impact in case of a headon collision and provides
additional stability.

Whether rear- or forwardfacing, the SIRONAs

adjustable linear side-impact
protection system (L.S.P.)
increases the level of safety in
case of a side-impact collision
(patent pending).
The L.S.P system can be
individually adjusted to the
position of the seat and the
type of vehicle and absorbs
the force of a side-impact
collision in combination
with the head and shoulder
protectors.

The innovative Seat-to-Chassis

technology creates a direct
link between the seat and
the chassis. In case of an
accident, the force of impact
is transferred straight to the
chassis, which simultaneously
activates the safety features
of the car and the seat and
thereby initiates the process
of distributing the force at the
earliest possible stage of an
accident.

All fabrics used by CYBEX are stringently

tested for toxic substances by independent
test institutes. They are colourfast, extremely

durable, and light- and temperature-resistant.

The covers can be easily removed and washed
with mild detergent on a gentle cycle at 30 C.
