1. Problem statement : based on my previous practical, I noticed that the pupils was
having a vocabulary problem (nouns) which they were hard to understand the
meaning of the simple words in English.
2. Root causes : i : the pupils never heard that particular words before
ii : they do not know the correct way to use dictionary.
iii : they used their mother tongue language to speak in the
classroom.
iv : teachers in the school did not encourage them to speak in
English.
3. Objective : i : to guide the pupils and show them how to use my method
(Pictionary book) in the classroom.
ii : to prove that the uses of Pictionary book method can help the
pupils become more understand the simple words (nouns) which they used in
their daily life.
4. Research question : i : is the method (Pictionary book) that I use in my action
research can help the pupils to solve their problem?
ii : is the uses of the Pictionary book increases the pupils
level of understanding?
iii : does Pictionary book is affective to the pupils in their
daily life?
5. Target group : year 3 or year 4
6. Intervention : I am going to use the Pictionary book to make them refer to the
nouns that they do not understand in English so they can easily search it in their
own Pictionary book.

Plan of action
On the first week, I am going to teach them first what is
nouns so they can understand and get used to the meaning

of nouns. After they are clear and understand, I will give them
exercises, quiz, and so on to detect which nouns that they

are not completely understand yet.


On the second week, I will ask them to list the all the nouns
that they have learned on the first week whether the nouns
that they are understand or not in their exercise book. Then, I
will ask them to differentiate the nouns whether it is proper
nouns, countable nouns, uncountable nouns and common

nouns.
On the third week, I am going to start the making of the
Pictionary book. I will ask the pupils to search as many
pictures as they can from various sources such as magazine,
newspaper, internet poster and so on to use in their
Pictionary book. But before that, I will show them my
readymade Pictionary book that I worked so hard to finish it
as an example for them so they can picture and get ideas of
what are they going to do. In the meantime, I will guide them
and show them ho to make a good , simple and yet easy to

understand and easily access to them.


On the fourth week, I am going to see their progression of
their Pictionary book. I will check their Pictionary book one by
one. Then, I will make a correction if there were a mistake or
error in their work and ask them to streamline it.

8. Appendix : I will use a test to gather the information as my guidance to do my

action research. I will also use the checklist to ensure the consistency and
completeness in carrying out of this task.
