1.

OBJECTIVES
This project/ Hari Raya Greeting Card Workshop is aimed to :
-

Cultivate fun way of conveying simple messages in English by using non-linear text for year 3

pupils.
Expose the year 3 pupils to vocabularies related to Eid Celebration.
Serve hands-on activity (making cards) for pupils to learn English better through meaningful
tasks related to daily life

IMPLEMENTATION STARTEGY
This project was carried out individually at the school hall. The workshop began at 12.30 and
went on for an hour and 15 minutes.Around 55 pupils of year 3 joined the workhop. I managed to
get help from other trainnee teachers to control the large number of pupils. Thanks to teacher Nur
Aziyah Binti Azib and Uztazah Khadijah bt Md.Esa. It was an interactive session as pupils got to
involve actively in the workshop. The workshop kicked off with the PowerPoint presentation on
Hari Raya celebration along with Hari Raya theme music. The vocabularies like Eid Mubarak,
bless and sincerely were introduced. Then, I taught them how to write simple messages in the
card. I showed the pupils some samples of greeting cards made by other students. My friends
and I facilitated them from time to time. Time was allocated for the pupils to produce their own
greeting cards in English. This was the fun part of the workshop and pupils really relished doing it.
At the end of the workshop, pupils sang Hari Raya song accompanied by music.

REFLECTION
a)

Strength:

The activities are very captivating and the pupils enjoyed it overall. It was a fun way to
weave in English in pupils daily life. Pupils were able to use the language correctly to write
the simple messages.the session was conducted well and good class control.

b)

Weakness(es):

Poor time management will be the downside of the project. The time got dragged beyond
planned time. Other than that, there were some students with poor language proficiency
who were unable to comprehend to my instructions.

SUGGESTIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT


I learned that I should be more aware of the time in the future. I can also seek senior teachers
help to attend and supervise my progress throughout the workshop. The PowerPoint should be
prepared in bilingual since the students are from mixed ability.

5.

CONCLUSION

I am gratified with my effort. It gave me a satisfaction of contributing something useful to the


pupils. I hope the pupils would have benefit from the workshop conducted. I hope they can apply
the knowledge imparted in the workshop in their daily life. I am looking forward to carry out more
workshops like this but with experienced teachers assistance as I really relished doing it.
