Hello Class/Consultants,
This is how I will grade the Chattanooga Ice Cream case analysis. Remember to emulate the
sample paper format found in the Course Guide tab. The points allocated are based on the rubric
found in the Course Guide.
Remember to read the entire assignment description in the course for detail.
Important: This assignment is linked to several important course outcomes. Thus, review the
entire course so far for learning that applies to this case. Be sure to cite the concepts used to
ensure the application is clear.

Nows your chance to apply to a complex business situation everything youve learned from the
teamwork model in The Five Dysfunctions of a Team, as well as what youve learned so far in
the lectures, videos, and readings.
Individually, you will write a 4-6 page analysis of the Chattanooga Ice Cream Division case,
excluding cover and reference pages. If you write more than 8 pages, contact me to discuss. In
the analysis you will:
1. Explain why the Chattanooga Ice Cream case team is dysfuntional. How did Charles
Moore's leadership approach contribute to it?
2. Discuss what this group of employees themselves could do to better understand the
perspectives of each other and their boss.
3. Make specific recommendations about what Moore should do now to help his team work
together and manage conflicts more effectively.

Grading: 250 pts.


1. Knowledge: 150 points Address all elements of assignment. Include an introduction and
conclusion. This paper must have at least three main sections, plus introduction and conclusion
(5 sections minimum), matching the assignment requirements. Each section must apply material
from the course with citations. Draw upon relevant learning from the course so far. Remember to
address DiSC styles in your analysis.
5 pts: Introduction previews major points effectively.
140 pts.: Report is comprehensive, relevant, well detailed, and persuasive. All three
elements of the assignment are substantively and clearly addressed. Major points to support each
thesis and analysis are stated clearly and are well supported. All relevant course materials and
research are amply applied to justify reasoning. This requires citations within the paper.
Determine where Charlie Moore has gone wrong as a leader, specifically in terms of team
management and decision-making. /40
Discuss what this group of employees themselves could do to better understand the
perspectives of each other and their boss. /40
Make specific recommendations about what Moore should do now to help his team work
together and resolve conflicts more effectively. /60 pts
5 pts.: Conclusion flows from the body of the report.
2. Integration of quality research: 50 points
The assignment requests 5 instances of quality research, with at least two being peer-reviewed
journal articles published after 2003. Frankly, if you substantially integrate one instance of
research into each section, for a total of three, I believe that is adequate. Inclusion of material
that does not add value to the paper detracts from it.
3. Composition: 50 points
40 pts. : Ideas presented are well organized and clearly stated without errors in spelling,
mechanics or grammar.
10 pts: Papers follows Style Guide manuscript guidelines
