“I
cannot possibly name an all time favour-
ite restaurants with so many amazing
eateries here in Kuala Lumpur, but if I
would nominate one of my favourites, it will
be Bar Italia located at Jalan Berangan,” De-
borah Henry spills the beans to KL Lifestyle.
Bar Italia, as the name suggests, is an Italian
restaurant located right in bustling Bukit Bin-
tang. Run by Italians, Chef Max and Paolo, Bar
Italia, although still a relatively new restaurant
has already gotten the former beauty queen’s
approval.
When asked how she discovered the
place, Deborah shares that it was through a
friend’s recommendation that she decides to
check the place out. “I think that recommenda-
tion in the form of word of mouth is definitely
more trustworthy. After all, one wouldn’t bother
talking about a place or something else if it’s
not interesting to share.”
The Miss Malaysia World 2008 mentioned

rustic Italian charm that not only adds authen-
ticity to the place but how the restaurant, even
amidst a buzzing crowd, always has a subdue
environment.” She adds that her favourite item
off the menu is the Agnellino Arrosto which is
roasted Spanish baby lamb leg in balsamic
and rosemary. “All the servings here come in
pretty big portion so they are perfect for shar-
ing. Bar Italia is a great place to come with in
big group of friends for dinner and even for
drinks thereafter.”
Deborah also recommends other popular
dishes such as the Grande Antipasto Bar Italia
which includes antipastos, homemade duck
sausage and cheese Fonduta. Pasta lovers
should not miss out on the Orecchiette Cacio
e Pepe, shell pasta sautéed with parmigiano,
pecorino and black pepper and Pappardelle
with Rabbit Ragout.
“Another great thing I loved about this
place is the service it offers,” compliments
Deborah. Deborah shares that Paolo, the
floor and restaurant manager is always there
to welcome her friends and herself whenever
they are there. “Paolo not only give good rec-
ommendations on what to eat but he always
listens to his guests and that’s what makes him
a better host,”
Bar Italia is also a great place for drinks
according to Deborah. “If you want to just en-
joy a quiet and chilled out night, head upstairs
to the roof top bar where you can get away
from the city crowd in a laid back environment
and enjoy the cocktails or wines.”
