What is Transitional Housing?

The We Care Program - Turlock has two transitional housing program, Rapid Re-Housing and a
Supportive Housing Program. Transitional Housing
allows for homeless individuals to get off the streets
and become sustainable with the support of a Case
Manager. The WCP transitional housing programs
are geared toward people over the age of 18 who
have an income and are currently homeless. WCP
has successfully housed more than 10 individuals in
the past two years, some of whom where veterans,
seniors, and physically disabled. There are currently
two case managers who work towards helping their
clients become self sufficient through jobs, life skill
coaching, budgeting, and connections to other services.

The latest individual to be housed through the

Rapid Re-Housing Program was homeless for 4
years after being laid off from his job. We met him
though the We Care Program Cold Weather Shelter and were inspired by his positive attitude and
demeanor. He is an avid reader and writer and has
an eye for some great furniture and decor! He
motivates us to run a great program, because
sometimes the people we help need so little, in
this case - it was the inability to pay the security
deposit and utilities deposit for his apartment. The
thing that stands out the most was something he
said the day he was housed, "being homeless made
me a better person."

Meet our newest Case Manager

Hello, my name is
Theodora Williams
and I am the new
Supportive Housing Program Case
Manager for the
We Care program.
6 years and 8 months ago I chose recovery.
After a year in a sober living, I enrolled in MJC,
attended 2 years studying chemical dependency. In 2013 I entered a 6 month program at
the CAARR institute. I am currently registered
with CAARR and working on getting my CAS
(Certified Addiction Specialist) certification. For
the past 5 years I have worked as a caregiver
part time and have worked voluntarily in programs for women and men with children in recovery. I enjoy working with people, and hope
that I can in some way make a difference. I am
so excited to be working with the We Care
team, and even more excited to be a helping
hand in the community.
