Domestic apparel market to grow robustly over the next 5 years

The domestic apparel market can be classified into rural and urban segments. Around 70 per cent of
Indias population still resides in rural areas and contributes almost 55 per cent to the total domestic
RMG industry (value terms). The urban population, which represents only 30 per cent of the total
population, puts in the balance 45 per cent. By 2015, we expect the domestic apparel market size to
reach Rs 2,027 billion, translating into a 10.7 per cent CAGR over the next 5 years
