Overview

Our project involves creating 2 books (one for English and another for Computer
Science) that holds helpful tips that will aid first year students succeed in that given
major. There is also a one page website that will host this book and provide the
overview/proposal of the books.

The Computer Science GitBook can found at

bit.ly/hu-book
.

The English GitBook can be found at

bit.ly/eng-hu-book
.

Rationale

The books will be used to give a better insight on what is needed in order to perfect
performances in these specific majors and be successful.

Audience

The books are targeted toward freshmen that are Computer Science or English
majors, but they are not limited to just first year students since the information can
benefit any range of incoming, current, or undecided majors.

Format

This book will be virtual and hosted through

GitBook
, which allows users to write
and publish using Markdown. The GitBook can be converted to PDF, ePub, and Mobi
formats.

Evaluation

ENG 218

We will have an ENG 101/ENG 102 and then also a CSC 151/CSC 152 professor
allow their students to get a quick glance at the project and see how they feel about
the book and website.

This feedback of the students will help judge the quality of the final document.

Related Skills

Our group is well rounded in both the fields of Computer Science and English. Due to
this, we are able to target multiple audiences and combine our skills for great
communication and pull readers in through visual arts and create an eBook utilizing
our technical abilities.

Resource Needs

We will be utilizing and online processor called GitBook to create our piece, which
group members have experience with. We will add photos to create visual interest
and stimulation. We may also interview graduating seniors to display their
perspective on what they have learned and how prepared they feel for their futures,
as well as answer questions in retrospect about their major.

Learning Goals

We intend to inform CS and English majors of the various opportunities available as

well as tools and advice for succeeding in the major. Freshman in these majors will
learn about tips, internship information, job occupations and many more.
