: Being able to conduct a research is one of the academic competencies students have to master. Therefore, it becomes
one of the requirements for students to graduate from the university. This subject concerns the steps in the research
process and research designs for education in general and the teaching of English as a second/foreign language
(ESL/EFL) in particular. This is expected to cater for the students knowledge and the skills to conduct a study on
language teaching, which is proved by their ability to produce a sound research proposal at the end of this course.
