The government is in the process of amending the weights and measures act in 1972 to
calibrate water and electric metres in an effort to protect consumers domestic trade
cooperatives and consumerism Minister data stream Islmail Sabri Yaakob, said under the
proposed amendment the ministrys offices would be empowered to check the metres every
year.
The minister was commenting on the consumer complaints that their electricity bills soared
