MicroStation CADD Standards and Procedures
1.0 Scope
The purpose and intent of this CADD Manual is to document and organize the multidiscipline CADD standards and procedures to be utilized by all personnel involved with
the production of CADD drawings for the FBP OSDC Project.
Coordinate System
The coordinate system to be used for all OSDC related design shall be Ohio State
Plane South, based on North American Datum 1983 (NAD83).
2.2 Units
All CADD Design will be done using English measurements and the U.S. Survey Foot.
2.3 Design Software
Bentley Microstation is the primary design tool for the OSDC project. The
intent is that all drawings are produced with Microstation and the inRoads
suite. AutoCAD may be used for certain pre-existing plant-specific
modification projects or as needed.
The table below shows the software available for use on the OSDC project.

2.5 MicroStation Configuration
FBP has a virtual server based MicroStation configuration designed for reliability
and ease of maintenance.
x A network server pools FBP licenses.
x All MicroStation resource files and data relating to CADD production reside under
the root directory T:\F000_ER\F6000 ER On-Site Disposal Cell\F6200
CADD\MS-STD\Workspace\Std except the license server files. Table 1 lists the
directory structure for FBPs CADD environment.
2.6 Configuration Variables
There are several custom configuration variables included in FBPs CADD
environment. These variables are directory path shortcuts. They are designed
to facilitate access to resource maps, standard cell libraries, seed files.
3.0
Drawing Standards
3.1
Drawing Sizes
Arch E1 (30 X 42) Primary border for design and construction drawings.
ANSI B - (11 X 17) Alternate reduced size border for special circumstances.
ANSI A - (8.5 X 11) Letter size border for exhibits and stand alone details.
3.2
Drawing Borders
All drawings created for design or construction shall be done utilizing OSDC standard
drawing borders
Borders are to be inserted into drawings by referencing the desired standard border
file and copying the text from the various fields into the drawing for modification.
When the desired text, scaling and layout are finalized, the standard border file
reference may be merged to master, thereby making the border a part of the file.

drawing revision description blocks. All drawings will also have a Preliminary Not for
Construction stamp located in the lower right hand corner above the title block.
(e.g.) Rev A, Rev B, Rev C,
3.4.2
All official drawings which are released for the purpose of construction at the project site
shall have a Numeric Revision Number, beginning with the number (0) zero, assigned as
part of the drawing name.
(e.g.) Rev 0, Rev 1, Rev 2,
These revisions will change sequentially as necessary if revised Design Changes are
required to adjust previously approved drawings. All of these revisions will be noted in the
drawing title block and in the drawing revision description blocks. These drawings will also
have a Certified for Construction stamp located in the lower right hand corner above the
title block.
3.4.3
In the case that a CFC drawing needs revised and the revision is not meant to return to
CFC until review and a following revision an alphanumeric system as follows shall be
used.
(e.g.) Rev 2 (CFC) is revised for sending to agencies for approval. It becomes Rev
2A, then 2B, etc. until the drawing is meant to become CFC again. At such
time it becomes Rev 3.
3.4.4
*All CFC drawings will only be issued through the Records, Management and
Document Control processing service.
*Each revised area or change item on a drawing after Rev 0 is indicated with a revision
cloud and a revision triangle as general practice unless it is deemed for special purposes
that the drawing is clearer without the revision clouds and triangles. Place clouds and
revision triangles on separate levels (G-ANNO-REVC and G-ANNO-REVS, respectively.)
*For overflow revisions that exceed the allocated revision spaces - erase the bottom
revision and move all revisions down to allow for the latest revision at the top.

4.1.2
Sheet Files
Sheet Files contain everything needed to be plotted as an actual drawing product.
They are a combination of referenced master files (when applicable), design
graphics, border, drawing annotation/text, north arrow, and graphic scale, etc.
Sheet Files are created with the same seed files as Master Files.
For each sheet file, a single border file is attached as a reference file via the saved
view function and then scaled to the desired plot scale. See Table 3 for typical
scale factors. In each case, design data is drawn full-size, and the plotting scale is
established by scaling the border sheet reference file.
4.1.3
Border Files
Section 3.2.1 lists the seed border files. The level assignments and content of
border file graphics are established per OSDC standards and are not be changed
without prior authorization.
Engineers stamps
Engineer stamps are placed within the border and assigned levels by
discipline. Border file level assignments are shown in Table 8.
4.1.4 Reference Files
Reference files are anything from topographic maps, survey files and other
background maps, to data points such as boring locations in a coordinate system,
etc. The graphic elements in reference files are placed in their proper geographic
position within the Ohio State Plane South Coordinate system. They are usually 3D
models with the elements placed at the correct geographic elevations except for
annotations and grid lines. Annotation is accepted in Reference Files such as contour
elevations and surface object identification if necessary. See Table 8 for pertinent
levels & information.
4.2
Level Conventions
Level naming convention is dictated by this manual and shall be used for all OSDC
work, whether the work is produced in-house or by an outside contractor or

consultant. Additional levels may be created as the need arises. Any additional
levels should follow the convention set forth in Table 8 which describes the list of
levels and their associated symbology.
4.3
Pen Tables
FBP OSDC uses Projectwise InterPlot software for plotting in Microstation. PW IPLOT
supports the use of design scripts to establish certain plotting characteristics and
capabilities. There are two custom design scripts one each for full-size and halfsize plotting in monochrome (black/white). There are two custom design scripts for
color plotting. The four standard design scripts are:

6.0 Plotting
FBP uses Bentley Systems ProjectWise InterPlot and Interplot Organizer
applications as the primary MicroStation plotting interface. Plot files are
submitted through the ProjectWise enterprise network to print queues dedicated to
CADD production. Batch plotting is done with Bentley Systems ProjectWise
InterPlot Organizer software.
x Plot queue settings files have file names matching the queue name. Other
settings files used in conjunction with the plot queue setting files are:
Settings files PW_IPLOT_FBP_11x17-REDUCED.set and PW_IPLOT_FBP_30x42Full.set do not require a fence and will exclude the cut line from the printed plot
when plotted via Iplot and used in conjunction with FBPs latest standard border file.
