Application
Current Sensing are given an output contact when the current flow rise above the pread justed limit. The time lag
between measuring the over current and giving the output contact is independent on the percentage of over current.
Independent current relays are normaly used for selective triping. The other current relays are operating dependent on
percentage of overcurrent, like thermal or inverse current relay.
Example or using independent current relays:
Selective overload and short circuit protection for electrical machines and cable
Current dependent switching on and off of consumers and supplies.
Type IWU is used as over current protection and type IWK as short circuit protection. Both types are manufactured as
singel-phase or triple phase units.

Function and adjusment

Independent current relay IWU and IWK consisting of: one electronic current measuring circuit (resp. 3 circuits with
index IW. 2/3) as well as one lag circuit for the switching delay. A led indicates the position of the adjusted limit.
Current relay needs no auxilliary voltage supply.
Current range of IWU :
0.5 1.2 A Resp. 2.5 to 6 Amps. As overcurrent relay, wth a time circuit of 5 to 45 Sec
Current range of iwk: 1 4 resp. 5 to 20 amps. As shortcircuit current relay, with a time circuit of 0.1 to 0.8 sec, max 6
