Wye wye

The picture was taken at Estero, Florida, USA. It looks to be a wye-wye with multi
grounded common neutral. Center-tapped transformer is fed from wye. The primary
appears to be connected in wye. The secondary is wye connected as the left-side
bushing of the two visible pots has only a single lead with no interties and the right-side
bushing have bear leads, which appear to be heading to the star point plus MGCN
termination.

Delta Wye

Here is a 4 wire Wye secondary setup, with a delta primary arrangement. You can use
the secondary to provide a neutral point for supplying line-to-neutral power to serve
single-phase loads and ground the neutral point for safety reasons. The delta primary
serves several useful functions. If the transformer secondary supplies large amounts of
unbalanced loads, the delta primary winding provides you with a better current balance
for the primary source.

Wye Delta

It is used to step-down utilities high line voltages. The most desirable transformer
connection is the wye-delta. The transformer primary is wye-connected, and the
secondary is delta-connected. Though it is done in many cases, the primary winding of
the transformer, known as the Y point, should not be grounded at the well site because
if one of the primary wires were to go to ground at some point in the primary system, the
ground wire at the well site might be at primary voltage to ground potential, creating a
danger of electrical shock for personnel. The transformer "ground" should not be
connected to the grounding system at the pumping unit because the latter includes the
enclosures for the electrical equipment.
The wye-delta connection has the advantage of allowing harmonic voltages in the
system to have a self-canceling effect in the delta-connected secondary. It is not
necessary for three single-phase units connected wye-delta in a three-phase bank to
have equal impedances; however, it is important for the primary to have balanced
voltage because unbalanced primary voltages can cause circulating currents in the
delta secondary.

Open wye open delta

It was taken at Anaheim, California, USA. This is an Open Wye Primary, Open Delta 4
Wire Secondary Transformer configuration. The Primary Distribution feeders appear to
be a 13200Y/7620V 3 Phase 4 Wire Wye system. The Secondary is one of the
"Famous" 4 Wire Deltas - with the "High Leg". Secondary Voltage is 240/120V, 3 Phase
4 Wire Delta. Measured Voltage from the secondary bushing on the far left side of the
smaller Transformer, to the center tap of the larger Transformer, will equal something in
the range of 195-208 Volts, while measuring Voltage between the center tap and either
the left or right bushings of the Larger Transformer, will result in 120V, and all L-L
measurements will show 240V.
