Year 12
Majid House Captain Application

Why do I want to go for the role of House Captain?

Ever since Year 7, I have seen the many house captains offer their full potential in guiding and
leading their respective houses. This has inspired me to seek this role as I believe that I have what
it takes to be a great house captain. I have the required skills and the desire to motivate my fellow
peers to come together as a unified house and perform well as a team.
As the years have passed since my first day in Year 7, I have continually watched as the past
House Captains offering their full potential in guiding and leading their respective Houses to the
best of their ability. This has inspired me to seek this role as I believe that I have the potential and
the desire to motivate the House to perform at the best of their abilities. I realize that running for
House Captain does not mean that I have the sole responsibility of encouraging fellow teammates
to excel in sports, not everyone excels in sporting events, but it is their duty to encourage Majid and
to engage their peers into activities, both physical and intellectual.
What attributes about myself can I contribute to Majid as House Captain?
Personally, I am honest, respectful and willing to listen to other peoples opinions. Not only am I
able to take the initiative to lead, I am also able to encourage my peers to perform to the best of
their ability. I have attended all the past JC inter-house competitions, participating where I can and
cheering on my teammates.
With my skills in fine art and technology, I am able to creatively make various things for my house.
For example, I have willingly collaborated with my form and was able to work alongside a fellow
peer to create a Game of Thrones themed board which was placed third place overall in year 12.
I regularly take part in after school clubs such as gaelic football. I was also given the opportunity to
coach children in Jumeirah Primary School on their football techniques. Being asked to train with
the Dubai Celts, a Dubai-based Gaelic Football team, was a great honor and developed my
confidence outside my academics.
Joining the Jumeirah College Royal Science Society has enabled me to develop my
communication skills and given me the opportunity to discuss and evaluate topics that I have never
heard of before, such as the theory of dark matter wiping out the dinosaurs and singularity.
Therefore, my communication skills have become a strong point as I am able to give and receive
constructive feedback and am able to confidently stand and address my fellow teammates. I am an
approachable person and hope to develop my connections in this school through this position as
house captain.
Efficiency and reliability are key aspects needed to be a successful student in Jumeirah College,
ones that I have been able to develop throughout my years here in this school. I hope to use these
attributes to the best of my ability to motivate Majid to success.

Majid within the competition or enthusiastically cheer on my teammates from the sidelines. Having
