the words of the songs, I will also place the lyrics into your mail boxes so that you can
practice with them as well..

Thank you very much,

CHRISTMAS CAROLS AROUND THE WORLD

Music of some famous carols goes.
Speaker 1:

Dear guests, it is my honor to welcome you on behalf of the students from

grades 1 through 4 who are the cast of this performance.

Speaker 2:

We live in a special country, a country made up of many nationalities with

many traditions. That was the reason we waned to learn more about other
nationalities with whom we have in common the same belief.

Speaker 3:

All the grades in elementary school studied about different countries

around the world and their ways of celebrating Christs birth.

Speaker 4:

We are going to present to you the traditions from several countries and
sing on the original languages. Dear audience, we are taking you to a trip
around the world through stories and music. We worked hard and we hope
you are going to enjoy it.

Music gets lauder and the other group of people comes on the stage. At this point
Ms. class needs to get in place on the stage.
Speaker 5:

Since the time when people started celebrating Christmas there were songs
which were telling the Nativity story.

Speaker 6:

The word carol meant a circle dance which was danced without being
sung.

Speaker 7:

Saint Fransis of Assisi brought carols into the church. In 1223, on

Christmas Eve, Fransis borrowed some farm animals, collected the
trappings of a stable and placed a statue of the infant Christ in a manger
filled with hay.

Speaker 8:

In the cave near the ancient castle of Grecchio, in Italy, he arranged them
to recreate the setting of the first Christmas night.

Speaker 9:

By special permission of the Pope, Fransis was allowed to conduct the

midnight Mass. Friars composed and sang new, joyful songs which
sounded much more like carols than hymns. From that time on Christmas
carols enjoyed the popularity.

Speaker 10:

Some of the carols we know today date back to the medieval times. In
recent years carols became very popular.

Speaker 11:

English speaking people are becoming aware of the rich and varied
musical heritage of Christmas from other countries: the dance carols of
Scandinavia, the shepherd carols of the Slavic countries, the German
lullaby carols, the posadas and villancicos of Spanish lands and
others.

Speaker 12:

The carols return to add joy and brightness of Christmas, making it glow
again with the imagination and fantasy that welled from hearts of simple
folk offering their adoration and love to the Babe of Bethlehem.

All the speakers get off the stage. Speaker 13 goes up:
