Education Field offices

Governance of basic education shall be implemented through the school premises. The
mandate, vision, and mission of the Department, structured components then are in place.
The department is currently led by the Secretary of Education, nominated by the
President of the Philippines and confirmed by the Commission on Appointments. The Secretary
is a member of the Cabinet and is responsible for control over the entire department. The current
Secretary of Education is Bro. Armin Luistro.
In the hierarchichal framework of Department of Education, There are four main levels of
authority - regional level, division level, school district level and school level.
In every regional office establishment, a director, an assistant director and an office staff
shall be in the position for overall program promotion and support, planning, administrative and
fiscal services in the entire region. In the division offices, it shall consist of a province or a city
which shall have a schools division superintendent, at least one assistant schools division
superintendent and an office staff for programs promotion, planning, administrative, fiscal, legal,
ancillary and other support services.
For all public elementary schools and public high schools or a cluster thereof, there shall
be a school head.
The school head, who may be assisted by an assistant school head, shall be both an
instructional leader and administrative manager. The school head shall form a team with the
school teachers/learning facilitators for delivery of quality educational programs, projects and
services. A core of nonteaching staff shall handle the school's administrative, fiscal and auxiliary
services.

Chapter 1

The said chapter is about maintaining, implementing, and exercising parental authority, by any
means, shall not be diminished the responsibility to the parents common children which are
obliged to obey their parents under the law. The parent shall always be consistent in performing
basic parent function in times of absence or death of the either parent or in case of separation of
the parents. In case of death of both parents, surviving grandparents shall sustain corresponding
authority over the children or the one designated by the court.
