Prologue

This, what I want to say with this book, should not insult any of semi-developed human brains, which I as
well own. Any way, it would be pleonasm if we call this book stereotype, but it is
just that, a stereotype of all stereotypes. This book will represent only a small period of history of
Serbian people, living here on planet Earth, thus found and described. As I punctuate on our flows, it
does not lessen the need for virtue and its achieving. And it is achieved… I hope you will enjoy this, as
much as you can, with your masochistic-hedonistic-foreigner soul!

Truly yours, all but writer…

0. Guilt - involuntary generated filling of conscious part of the mind, by again, involuntary acts on facts
that we are conscious of. It is universal filling of Serbian people. Conscious fact: The aftermath of war,
which are unconsciously buried deep by unconscious deeds (acts) in the war itself. And the war, we lost,
haven’t we?

1. Victor (winner) - one that is moral; one who carries on (leads) to another (new) victories

2. Loser (defeated) - immoral; one who returns to the past, over and over, and dwells there eternally

3. Hero - is an archaic word, representing the one from ancient past, mostly fictional

4. Truth - the most abstract term of all, unable to take hold of it as a light, hollow as vacuum itself

5. Lay - the other side of truth, and not far from it, it is developed in verbal part of life, lives in
imagination, and never dies

6. Forgetting - integral part of brain activity, and most common Serbian brain activity

7. Conspiracy theory - term invented during 1990`s. One of the most essential and the most used
syntax. The meaning of these words is originally close to mythic curse thrown on Serbian people, by its
enemies, (the number of these enemies is fluctuating by the day).

8. War - battle of nations, or within nations, if lost, then forgotten and unspoken of, if won stays alive in
mind and memory for long, and is told over and over. In fact the war is only a time before and after sex.

9. Sex - totally foreign word, as well as the concept; put to its use, and utterly revealed during the last
century, after it spent two thousand years as a taboo. In its reproduction, the only two things are missing –
the filling of sent and touch, (if we don’t consider books); visualization is
fully reached, sound as well. These fillings are now used for levying money from pedophiles, an all sorts of
deviant and sexually twisted minds, which now start to influence the rest of the world, changing their
imagination, taking it over and finally destroying it completely.

10. State - the highest form of institution, built on pillars of law, to robe its people of its money and other
valuables, by any means, (those we can call “smarter” states do the same, but to some other people or
nation, or even a country). Any other function of State is subservient to mentioned above. State is
enslaved to economy, and its citizens are enslaved to state. Ancient artifact of civilization, as it is, State
was made to dress up disorder in fictional order, and camouflage it as constant improvement of its
sovereigns in concern for freedom and people’s rights. Literally, State is a male whore. Today, Serbia is
merchants’ country, mostly importing, and almost no exporting.

11. Abroad - a word, said by someone young, breaths with hope, faith and desire for better life. It also
refers to West or Westward, thus advanced.

12. Hope - the most devastated creation, but as a unique human perpetual mobile, it is regenerated, over
and over again. It used to be a part of faith.

13. Faith - Serbs are Orthodox with atheist consequences, legacy of communism doctrine. Its very
existence describes state of consciousness – Good is in all that does no evil, at least not to oneself.

14. Family Feast - it is renewed term which is celebrated as a substitute for old pagan holidays, as well
as communist one. Therefore, it is just another excuse for over-eating and over-drinking, and
occasionally bullshitting, afterwards.

15. Politics - one’s favorite subject during the family feast meal, term which everyone understands, and
which everyone knows the best, and whose opinion on is never changed, until perhaps next elections.
Anyway, politics was the reason for changing confession, and back again, if needed.

16. People - it is mass, mob, and it has a number, and number doesn’t mean anything, when said, human,
thus the number 1 (one), which is pretty close to zero, and that is why it is considered as nothing in this
disturbed coordinated system of Universe. Every man in this mass is individual, so the mass is in
deferent colors, and this Technicolor (multicolored) mass stings the eyes, and upsets the
equilibrium. The great number of lives is simplified an minimized by the numbers themselves, and the
meaning of individual is lost, nevertheless continuing to insist on diversity; ones words and deeds and
developing becomes similar to each other thorough education – its narrowness and specializations; there is
increase in alienation and misunderstanding due to glorifying differences and significances of
specialized work. On the other hand: there is about hundreds of billions of insects on to of every human,
and insects are a lot, but do they more endanger the planet through their existence. Is life possible without
insects? …And without humans?

17. School - another product of state, place that keeps you from playing, the place for “killing” boredom
(for ones that go along with it, and can stand it), also represents instrument of power, dressed in
experience (of empowered, and impotent executives or officials)

18. Teacher - almost extinct human race, found on some continents, (usually single)

19. Parent - one of the most frustrating terms in this book. To be or not to be, parent I mean, that is the
question; or to buy , the present and future nanny, the cheapest of it all.

20. Television - not a Serbian word, pure foreign word; square electronic box, not only that it tells stories,
buy lies as well, and then turns them into myths and legends. It is responsible for dying of creational parts
of brain, because imagination loses its purpose if someone else is doing it to you. And this already ancient
and imperfect toy, more-less is falling beneath firm and spacey looking feet of the:

21. Computer - the box no. 2, somewhat smaller in size, but of much higher power and possibilities. You,
young parents, what are you waiting for, you still haven’t bought the newest sample of nanny; well hurry
up it is already in your virtual store next to you; technology is leaving in unknown direction, faster than we
are all moving with our mother Earth.

22. Internet - direct ascendant of computer. It has the widest field of activity, operation and influence,
mostly on information and awareness, (of present and past, and future), also on speed of communication
(business and personal), and in that way on commerce and trade, economy and education. As a very
young media, internet is full of flaws (abuse of privacy, cons and false data), but its limits and
capabilities are jet to be seen and understood. Internet has everything except its source – matter.

23. Mobile phone - not a , but personal , which considering depth of your pocket is contra-size
and pro-brand-new. It is used instead of phone, letters, diary, and camera, and even for internet.
24. Mp3 (or Mp4) - “around-neck-pocket-size thingy” is device for alienation of people and nature around
us

25. Creation - something that I can destroy

26. Money - usually paper, with value, which depends on your perspective

27. Job - activity connected with earning money, work for money

28. Salary - it is something you get for working for money, and which is so pitiful, that you better not wok
at all, and become idler (unemployed, drone etc.) read as: criminal, landlord or artist…

29. Bribe - it is event or process, domesticated and very common in these parts, that became as
megalomania and almost incurable

30. Holiday - 10 to 20 days of not going to work; time to spend yearly savings, if you have any at all, by
going to seaside – to get some extra tan for those pale months to come, which is of course better than
forbidden solarium, naturally by those western countries; the ozone hole is not yet confirmed a
“conspiracy theory” again

31. Disease - ever-present term, even if only as a form of depression

32. Death - the only term that is not born in this world, but dying as soon as it becomes. It can have a
religious meaning (for better or for worse tomorrow), superstitious meaning (that is more than the life
itself) or science fiction meaning (that it is a door to many other lives) or it can just be something that does
not have anything to do with faith.

33. Art - human action expressed during the period between wars and caused by lack of sex. Its origins
are older than religious, and art survived it, and lived beyond it… For Serbian people even if the art was a
great muse, it always was falling behind something else.

34. Music - the art of sound, has origins even before people, (reading Darwin, you must conclude that
birds and other animals sung long before us), and even independently for us. For all the noise we make,
little space was left for melody. Serbian music is versatile in its appearance, as well as in its performance
and production. That is why we can divide it into two lines – that with Serbian origin, and that with
someone else’s origin. Original Serbian music was here from the beginning, before the invaders, and it is
almost extinct, rarely performed, and heard. To its sounds the greatest Serbian composers came back,
from time to time, because of its cultural wealth is eternal, unless it is forgotten. I need to point out, like
most Serbs would, the other kind of music – with foreign influence (there is no difference here among
Serbs and other nations, but the others are not the subject of this book). This kind of music was developed
maybe even before invasion of Turks, afterwards influence was from Austro-Hungarians, and most recent
by technology. This group of music we can divide in several steams, like: Serb-Turkish, Serb-Hungarian and
Serb-radio- music. Anyhow, this subject requires much more lines, so we have to abandon it right
away. The first I mentioned, as its consequence has the today’s trend turbofolk, which was realized as a
constant, centuries old polluting of original Serb music, thus becoming a mutant fully developed in last
fifteen years, excepted by most of the nation (probably 90%) withier if they were voluntary (active) or
accidental (passive) listeners. This kind of music we can categorize as a part of above mentioned noise.
The other group was more or less developed, in matter of time and space, but was nevertheless
counterweight, although not as massive, but led in direction which was later responsible for making the
third influence: radio- music. This latter trend then subsequently broke into smaller and smaller
streams. Its development was through literal acquisition of chansons, infiltrating transcriptions on Serbian,
then through more-less cover rock hits (finding that rock is a natural habitat of original Serbian
music?) to rare original songs and music, and again to total loss of direction and all out chaos of acquiring
world trends, driven by basic need to attract as many listeners as possible, overwhelmed by cruel world
music industry. Anyway the music stands as the most present and represented media of art, whatever
shape and form it takes, enabling people to communicate with it and through it, even more than those
which one can see of touch:
35. Picture - recently static, nowadays quicker than eye,  surface, which has its length and height, but
endless depth of diagonals. It had great influence on mankind, since its first line, color of stain. Once a fact
and matter, later mystified, today is abstract and digital, thou still catching the state of life (the Earth), and
all its aspects within, and outside. Serbian painting is a bitter echo of brainstorming abroad. Too much of
inferiority complex and lack of individualism by those unable to recognize one’s worth might he be creator
just a viewer, lead to plagiarism of one’s already proven ’s. Music gives hope, literature heals it,
acting comforts it, but painting only gives us a warning if something is like or not…

36. Literature - written word, then typed, now digital. Once it was printed in books, now recorded by 0
and 1. Hers great helpers – act (through film and dying energy of theater), but also lyric sung by
musicians. Serbian literature was something with what Serbs were proud of, until recently – mostly
because of its worldwide recognition, and by that I mean Andric’s Nobel Prize, as well Serbian epic
(unwritten, heroic) poetry dedicated to one small but proud nation. Although I appreciate its originality
more than other Serbian creations, I must acknowledge that today is not in its greatest. By that I mean it
does not earn that much money, and also has very little number of its consumers, thus I wouldn’t like to
mention it at all.

37. Acting - it originates from applied literature which is put through human motion in universe of applied
architecture, using art actively with human energy. Making of motion pictures puts it on screen, and later
on digital monitor, it derives acting form its essential part – live energy; though it gains in field of
performance thus enables manipulation. Actors in Serbia can be divided on: the Old school, followers of
the Old school, and copycats of the Old school.

38. Film (eng.), movie (am. eng.) - first created by 24 photos per second, on a rolling tape; nowadays
something even more unimaginable. And when picture and sound start living their own life, away from
their creators’, they become almost immortal. And as time passes they become the most commercially
abused art of all, which I will try to explain:

Modern (commercial) arts in Serbia:

39. Television (as a cultural media) - the cheapest management and directing of conversation, thoughts
and everyday life at all

40. Journalism - in its 99% it is the cheapest and uneducated management and directing of conversation
and thoughts

34. Music - skillfully pressed copy-paste from foreign market

41. Graphic (and web) design - skillful following of others’ footsteps

42. Architecture - building in spite of your neighbors

43. Interior design - be your own boss (the oldest Serbian craft)

44. Fashion -typical example of the most skillful following others’ footsteps and also most present in
media, besides all out necessary and our favorite politics

45. Sculpturing - dying with (out) glory

46. Dramaturgy - despair you when one can see all who are writing now and who cannot even be
screened

47. Animated movies (cartoons) - eagerly watched by children, mix of music and picture and most
fictional art of all – acting. With newest technology, it is the best reflection of art today. In Serbia it comes
down to short films, commercials and web presentations, and even there it is very rare. (Blame it on the
poor education!)

48. Music video - mini film which is used by music bands, and other music performers. Domestic ones are
more and more, due to money problems, like home videos. The exception to there are turbofolk videos,
which represent mania of copycats whole music and looks of foreign videos, and with no fear
of losing consciousness you can count them as payable.

49. Garbage - something you created and you have no need for it any more. For us, Serbs, unaware of
recycling, discipline in usage of plastic, and love for Mother Nature, who was very favorable to us? We
treat garbage like garbage! But because we mostly feel like it – garbage, we throw it all around us, to be in
our own element, I guess.

50. Wrath - it is the reason I wrote this book. At first, because I was powerless when I changed myself
according to permanent axioms, and than trying to type it down in sphere of changeable axioms; and the
mistakes you made than correct them and print them as foundation for better tomorrow, because today is
not good at all, maybe it was yesterday?

51. Prejudice - recently found (invented) word, but slowly revealing itself, its misapprehensions and
meanings

52. Fact - is an accurate term, until proven otherwise. Pluto is a planet – , until it was not anymore.
Now that statement is a .

53. Space - universe, something we never saw with our own eyes, heard with our ears, nor felt with our
bodies, but is all present and we are in it. It is actually diameter from heaven to hell, thus it is endless.
Existence of space like that does not controvert existence of any God. Space visited, firstly some dogs,
than some men from Russia and .

54.  - America, the infamous, abstract, metaphoric, hyperbolic, the term of all terms, the antonym of
Serbia

55. Irony - also known as cynicism, but often it is misunderstood, for its meaning and use. Most of us took
American culture as their own, or it took over us. That was ironic but not at all cynic.

56. Time - thing that goes but has no legs. It is something that lasts, but you don’t know it where it starts
or ends. It exists but it is relative. You have to spend it, otherwise it is useless.

57. Measure - it represents a volume, mass, height to achieve balance. It is not human characteristic, but
measuring is. For example, painting is measured by the space it takes, while eye measures wave length of
colors which are later felt by brain. Space between painting and viewer is filled by form (its waves and
shapes). Music is measured by artificial segments of time, so we can understand its time length, but
ears measure it by its sounds its heights of its waves and colors of it, cold and warm. The air that is
conquered by music, one thing is for sure it is not an ordinary air.

58. Eternity - it is in matter itself, not only around it. Of course there are smaller things than atoms, and
so one and so forth…

59. Opinion it is a process of thinking which assumes getting to some kind of your own conclusion. It is
not just to agree or disagree with someone else’s, and spinning off in circles with one.

60. Cyrillic - it is a script used to print this book, at least on half of its pages. Made by one of the Greatest
Serbs (first designer known in these parts of the world) – Vuk Stefanović Karadžić, who is also a pioneer in
printing books in Serbia. Cyrillic letter is different from its relatives by its simplicity in phonetic sense.
61. History - it is a past, for which we usually cannot find time in this messed up present, but in which we
can rarely find anything for the future

62. Drink (liquor) - liquid of alcohol substance which is used by men, nowadays more and more by
women, to express how tough they are or what they were made of, as well strength of their character and
unbreakable spirit. Oh, if little Serbian didn’t have his one (cup)! Our national drink is Rakia (Rakija) – kind
of brandy, there’s nothing stronger on the market, except maybe Russian vodka, and they are pretty
strong drinkers too.

63. Russia (Mother Russia) - Serbia in big edition

64. Love - almost extinct at the end of last century, for its original meaning. It remerges again but in a

666. Superstition - there is no place.

67. Value (worth, worthiness) - it is a term which cannot be valued or described by any other. That word
lost its meaning and importance. This term is most misused and most changed in history, and by that
achieved its complete opposite – unworthiness. It just nullify itself, becoming a huge zero; if you try to help
it by beginning one and add to two seemingly unconnected events, and it gives you three ideas for four
eyes to make it five or even six letters, only to know that they are worthy.

 there is no need to point out – “honorable exceptions” – with every term. In that case anyone could see oneself

 Serbian people, even after all the terms I will explain, it will not be understood and still will be inestimable, by the
written word
 Pagan to Christianity, Orthodox to Islam, then to Orthodox again, than to Communism, and again to Orthodox, than

 in time of Nemanjić dynasty, during the rule of King Milutin (Moravić style), and later in time of communism, when it
reached its peak of civilization, just after  (zenithism), the art was ahead its time, and for maybe was right

it, but later in some cases they become addicted and even become active listeners

 particles smaller than atoms are: electron, proton, neutron; even smaller are subatomic: photon, quark and others
over 150 of them
 even though it is considered as national drink and unique, it is not famous as Serbian drink, someone else bought
the license and branded it as their own

Review

Here in front of you, is a dictionary of seemingly common words, but after the author put them in writing,
they seem little less known, at least their new meaning. All this comes from author’s personal defining,
mostly media terms and words, and which can be applied to this specific country.

If you reach out for the methodology in which this book is made by, and the terms which are explained,
you will be in for a surprise, because there is a system without a system, which Miss Radisavljević is
pointing out, and makes this dictionary very interesting and persistent to anarchism of society of which
she is writing about. Terms are intentionally defined like that, and without any reserve, explicit, and
potentially they get ironic in description or explanation. You can, as well notice merciless critics of society,
through Miss Natalija’s colorful digressions.

This kind of dictionary has to raise a question of what was the reason for its becoming, and to invoke
interest for author, who by definition of this work – dictionary, promised us systematic form, but then made
the U-turn, thus ridiculing system of totality into a serious critic of society. By recognition of
problems in our society; which can be blamed for this serious wrath and anger, as well as for all out
dullness and numbness amongst people; author with her angry attitude is backing up those who are
against this kind of a system, but yet aware that there are still those she could preach to and that there is
still hope for those who are yet to come.

For the foreigners (not Serbs):

If you could find yourself and your people, in this 60 pages, we may have, something as ”some” common
origin, and same wishes and values. And maybe the imaginary borders on the ground trought mountains,
forests and rivers are stronger than our minds, and the sky is just closed, glassed window to another world.
If so, then neither this motif has no purpose, and then no either value: that we all make the most worth to
each other and among ourselves.
