- To take the course as an Upgrade Credit Course, the student must have
completed the course in the past 12 months and attained a mark of at least 50%.
After you register, send evidence of your successful prior completion of the
course you are upgrading.
2
- any 3U or 3M level Canadian and World Studies, English or Social Studies and
Humanities course
3
- any university, university/college, or college preparation course in Social
Sciences and Humanities, English, or Canadian and World Studies
4
- any university, university/college preparation course in Social Sciences and
Humanities, English, or Canadian and World Studies
5
- MHF4U may be taken concurrently with MCV4U
6
- four years of secondary school mathematics (recommend that a high school
calculus course be completed)
7
- a prerequisite course contains required knowledge to do its subsequent course,
(ie SNC1D is the prerequisite for SNC2D). Students must complete the
prerequisite course first. However, students from educational jurisdictions outside
of Ontario who have completed the equivalent of the prerequisite content may
have the prerequisite course waived; as may older students or students with
advanced education.
The Fine Print
Refund Policy: There are no tuition refunds. Administration goes into the establishment of the
student account; enrolling the student into the course, contracting the teacher, contacting the
school, etc., which means that the tuition cannot be refunded. The decision of the VHS Principal
will be considered final in all cases involving requests for course refunds.
Course Transfer Policy: A student who registers and is enrolled into a course is eligible to
switch courses within three months of enrollment for an administrative fee, as long as no more
than three assessments have been completed. The decision of the VHS Principal will be
considered final in all cases involving course switches.
Student Enrolment Policy: There is no set schedule for the student to complete the course or to
complete assignments. Students start their course the day they register and move through their
course at their own pace. The only restriction placed on the student is that the student must
complete the course within 18 months. Students will be unenrolled from their course if they take
longer than 18 months to complete the course. The decision of the VHS Principal will be
considered final in all cases involving student unenrollment.
Course Prerequisite Policy: Certain courses require the student to have completed a
prerequisite course. While VHS will allow the student to begin the course without providing
evidence that the required prerequisite has been completed, it is the student's responsibility to
obtain and send us a copy of your Ontario Student Transcript (OST) or Report Card or Credit
Counselling Summary which proves to VHS that you have achieved the prerequisite for your
course. VHS shall not issue the student a midterm or final report or transcript until the student
provides evidence that the prerequisite course has been completed. This document may be
mailed, faxed, or scanned and attached to an email to Guidance@VirtualHighSchool.com.
Conversely, the student may not have the prerequisite course. This student may request that the
VHS Principal waive the course prerequisite requirement. The criteria used by the VHS Principal
to determine if the prerequisite course is to be waived, is the student's maturity and/or education
level. If you are a mature student or if you have additional education beyond your high school
record, then after you register for the course, you will need to contact
Guidance@VirtualHighSchool.com to request that the prerequisite be waived. The decision of
the VHS Principal will be considered final in all cases involving waiving prerequisite
requirements.
Tuition refund policies, course transfer policies, student enrollment policies and course
prerequisite policies may be modified at any time at the Virtual High School website. The use of
Virtual High School courses indicates that the student accepts these aforementioned policies.
