1. Process Information

ZINTEK 200 is an inorganic, zinc rich corrosion protective base coat with Zinc- and Aluminium- flakes.

ZINTEK 200 is an inorganic coating material (base coat) for dip/spin, spin coat, dip/drain and spray
application on fasteners like bolts, screws, nuts, springs, clamps, stampings etc.

ZINTEK 200 can reach corrosion protection values of 1000 hours or more in neutral salt spray test
according to ISO 9227 or ASTM B 117 without base metal corrosion depending on application method,
layer thickness etc.

ZINTEK 200 achieves best results on blasted or (thin layer) phosphated subsurfaces. The range of
layer thickness is typically between 6 and 20 m. The coating does not produce hydrogen
embrittlement through the application.

7. Analytical Instructions
Version: 01

Determination of Viscosity

Doc.-No.: EXT-1171-PHY-01

Principle:

Determination of the flow time by use of flow cups under specific conditions.

Please follow the general regulations for hazardous materials in the Material safety
data sheets!
The analytical procedure is to be followed exactly.
Be sure to observe all local regulations concerning the permitted limits for
pollutants.
Equipment required*:

3mm viscosity cup (according to DIN 53211)

Thermometer
Stop watch

Procedure:

Temper the sample to 20C

Take the 3 mm (according to DIN 53211) viscosity cup at the handle and dip it into the sample
After pulling out the cup start the time measurement with an appropriate stop watch
If the flow of the liquid stops or the cup is empty, stop the time.
The measured time is the viscosity in seconds
Clean the cup after usage with appropriate solvents
In principle carry out a double determination!

Quality assurance: For maintenance, calibration of measuring devices and the use of
standards and reference materials please refer to the corresponding guidelines.

Determination of the Solid Content

Doc.-No.: EXT-1172-PHY-01

Principle:

Determination of the solid content by evaporation under specific conditions.

Reagents required*:

Ethanol absolute, analytical grade

DI water.

Please follow the general regulations for hazardous materials in the Material safety
data sheets!
The analytical procedure is to be followed exactly.
Be sure to observe all local regulations concerning the permitted limits for
pollutants.
Equipment:

Air oven, T = 3.5 C at 150 200 C

Flat bottomed dish, 75 5 mm, height of rim at least 5mm.
Analytical balance, capable of weighing to an accuracy of 0.1mg
Desiccator containing suitable desiccant
Standard laboratory equipment

Procedure:

Degrease and wash the dish using ethanol and water

Dry the dish in the air oven at 105C
Let the dish cool down to room temperature in the desiccator.
Determine the weight of the dish to the nearest 0.1mg (m 0)
Set the air oven temperature to 180C
Weigh in approx. 1.0 0.1g of the sample into the dish (m 1)
Transfer the dish to the air oven
Dry the sample for 30 min.
Let the dish cool down to room temperature in the desiccator
Determine the weight of dish with the dried sample to the nearest 0.1mg (m 2)

Calculation

Solid Content

(m 2 m 0 )
(m1 m 0 )

100%

m0 = mass of the empty dish [g]

m1 = mass of dish and sample [g]
m2 = mass of dish and sample after drying [g]
In principle carry out a double determination!

Quality assurance: For maintenance, calibration of measuring devices and the use of
standards and reference materials please refer to the corresponding guidelines.

Unless otherwise stated, these are always analytical grade substances.
