Question 3: What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

Throughout the research and planning stages we used questionnaires to gain


feedback from our audience on how we should construct our product and relate it
to the target group. This gained vital information that enabled our final products
to be completed in an appropriate manner. To gain feedback on our finished
products we once again used questionnaire to get consumer feedback on the
quality of our finished products.

Documentary

To begin with we asked the consumer the question what gender are you? this
was needed so we can see how gender effects peoples views on our
documentaries such as stereotypes used. We tried to get an even split of both
genders however the end result was that we asked a few more males, this could
potentially lead to a more one sided view.

We then also asked the question did it interest you? this was asked so we could
see if the documentary was related enough to our target audience to interest
them. The results show that the majority of our audience found the documentary
interesting, therefore the convention we followed and developed have been used

effectively. However there is some room to interest even more of our target
audience.

watch the rest of the documentary? There were split answers, the majority
would, however we feel we could have made the documentary more interesting
and fast paced. This would enable more people to be more likely to watch the
rest of the documentary.

From the next question Did it relate


to you? we found out that the documentary related to 60% our audience,
therefore it could be said we constructed the documentary in an appropriate
manner. However 40% suggested it was not related to them, I feel we could have
adapted the documentary so it was more appealing to the younger age group
such as by using more archival footage.

to be educational about mobile phones. This shows us that the facts that we
used were appropriate to our target audience.

Through this we
learned most people liked it however there was still room for improvement as
few thought our work to be of an outstanding manner.

When we asked on a scale of 1-10


how enjoyable was the radio trailer? we got mainly positive feedback with only
the minority finding large areas for improvement. This shows that the upbeat
manner that we presented it in was suitable for our target audience.

During the making of our radio


trailer we tried to ensure that it was enjoyable but still professional. We asked
did the radio trailer sound professional? to see if we achieved this, we learnt
that 5 of 15 people only found it somewhat professional. This highlight that we
perhaps focused too much on making it enjoyable rather than the professional
qualities of it.

conclude that the facts/expert interviews/vox-pops chosen present our
documentary piece in an appropriate.

We then asked did it make you


want to watch the rest of the documentary? the results of this were very mixed
with 8 saying yes and 7 saying no. We feel this is a big issue as it shows that we
did not advertise our documentary in an effective way. To counter this we would
have to try to make it more interesting my using more key issues from the
documentary.

On a more positive note from the question did the music fit in well? we learnt
that the vast majority of people thought the music fitted in well. This was
particular pleasing as we spent time producing our own music to suit the
consumer. This shows the guitar was appropriate for our target audience.

When constructing our TV listing


we paid close attention to the layout to ensure the overall look was professional.
When we asked on a scale of 1-10 how professional was the product? we learnt
that it achieved a very high standard. However even though we are happy with
the response it could provide an issue if being so professional is appropriate to
our target audience.

When making our product we


struggled to shorten the ideas we wanted in an effective manner. Consequently
even when we altered it the finished product still had an overall cramped look
about it. Therefore when we asked the question was there an appropriate
amount of text? the majority thought we had, this result was not surprising and
we would need further planning to summarise our ideas in a shorter manner.

Our most positive feedback


came from the response to was there synergy across the three products? All but
one found recognisable aspects that were consistent across our three products,
this shows that the consistent style we were trying to achieve was successful.
