I worked as a medical Officer in the Medicine department at Hanif Hospital ,

Karachi. It is a 100 bed hospital . I obtained training in sub specialties of


Internal Medicine: Cardiology, Nephrology, Gastroenterology, Neurology,
Endocrinology and Pulmonology. My 6 months working experience as a house
officer gave me the opportunity to learn how to apply the knowledge I have
gained during the five years of Medical School and polish my clinical skills via
patient interaction. As a functioning member of the team I was involved in all
aspects of health care provided by the unit. My job involved recording
histories, conducting physical examination, iniating management plans,
maintaining patient follow ups in the ward, participating in daily morning
meetings, weekly grand rounds and presenting various clinical cases.

The internship (House Job) is for a period of one year. By attending the
surgical and the medicine unit for 6 months each i fulfilled the requirement.

During my one month elective program in the Internal Medicine Dept. at


AKUH I used to attend daily rounds, clinics and grand rounds under the
supervision of the consultants. I also did case presentations every day,
maintained regular patient follow up and did presentations on topics such as
Nephrotic Syndrome and Hyponatremia.
I did a one month elective program at Liaqat National Hospital in the Dept. of
Endocrinology. During this rotation I used to attend daily rounds and grand
rounds and conducted clinics under Dr. Asim Hassan's supervision. I did case
presentations on various clinical scenarios and was responsible for
maintaining patient follow-up in the ward.
I did a one month elective program at Liaqat National Hospital in the Dept. of
Chest Medicine. I used to attend rounds and clincs everyday, did case
presentations and maintained patient follow up in the ward. I also attended
the CME Asthma Programme orgranized by the Dept. of Pulmonology.
I was part of the community programme under the auspices of the
Government of Pakistan to administer vitamins and polio drops to young
children all over the city in a campaign to eradicate polio from Pakistan.

Hanif hospital is a 100 bed tertairy care hospital where i was employed as a
medical officer in the department of medicine. My duties involved admitting
new patients, initiating and implementing management plans and
performing daily follow up of patients admitted in the ward.
Dr. Ziauddin university hospital kemari campus is 124 bed tertiary care
teaching hospital where i was employed as a medical officer in the intensive
care unit. The hospital has a 12 bed icu .
My duties involved management of patients admitted in the icu.
Hyponatremia, sepsis, stroke, aspiration pneumonia, copd / asthma
exacerbation and ARDS were among many of the cases that i had managed
under supervision of a critical care specialist. I successfully placed central
lines in internal jugular and femoral vein on multiple occassions.
