Politics in Marenia

It has come to my attention, that the knowledge of my homeland of Marenia far exceeds

the evolution evident in all other countries by comparison. Let the following provide a viewpoint

into our political system, as such atrocities implied to other lands by the aforementioned

statement can be maintained in a way far less inferior. Let us start with general statements of

definition. Marenians have developed our political system on the basis of our two primary

parties, the lucrecrats, and the currencians. When it comes time to provide a leader for our

country, two eligible candidates are selected at random from the population, and given a

corresponding party. Occasionally, a third or even a fourth candidate will be selected, but

typically, as they are not associated with the independent nominal titles, the public lacks an

interest in them. As for providing a definion for the public, they are the persons who are able to

choose one of these infamous titles, and select that side to stick with through thick and thin. That

is of course unless an individual representing the opposing viewpoint comes in to argue in a

political debate. When this occurs, whoever receives the opportunity to argue their side first gets

their point heard by their chosen opponent, and the opponent is helpless as to means of verbal

defense. The plaintiff’s side is immediately instantiated into the mind of his selected enemy, and

a successful conversion has therefore occurred. This is primarily an action observed in the aged

population, but is also starting to emerge in our youth. Recently children as young as six and a

quarter years old were given the ability to participate in the political process. Party identification

occurs for children when they observe any physical trait in a candidate similar to their own. This

provides an opportunity for the candidates to campaign by observing traits in the population, and

matching those traits within themselves. However, there is the rare chance that a child will

emerge with an opinion of a characteristic of a candidate slightly beyond the superficiality of

their defining aspects. When this opinion is voiced, the opinion spreads like a wildfire, and
children all over the country will use the exact same phrase and facial expressions as the original

speaker to portray their newly founded political viewpoint, providing an effective hands-off

campaign for candidates. These hands-off campaigns are excellent for the candidates to make use

of, but the hands-on decisions are where the work comes in. When a candidate wakes up in the

morning, a ready supporter will offer him or her the choice between a breakfast of milk and

cereal, or a breakfast of eggs and bacon. If the candidate chooses the latter of the two, their

campaign will receive a substantial boost, and a vast amount of supporters will be gained.

Unfortunately, if the first choice is selected, the televised media will attack the poor judgment

choice, and reiterate their choice to the public in a far more pessimistic tone. The media has

indeed started to emerge as a primary focus for candidates. In fact, one of the first major

campaigns of our candidates is a televised one. They enter a room filled with fifty podiums.

These podiums are all made of the same material, but are all of various sizes. When the media

says to, the candidates race to find the largest podium in the room. When the candidate finally

selects one, he or she grabs a pre-typed speech set on top of each podium, and reads it aloud to

the camera crew standing by. This camera crew stands by for every important detail of the

candidates’ lives, making sure to alert the public when a major fluctuation in the candidate’s

daily life occurs such as a delayed bathroom break. Such things are clear signs of deception, and

with our mediacentric system, are quickly made known to the general public. After a few

attempts at the podium room, each candidate is offered a choice. They are able to either

immediately take away some of the supporters of their enemy, or gain some of their own. Both

options leave the political race in the same position as before, but for some reason candidates

always choose to get rid of their opponent’s supporters. It is not clear why this occurs, and can

only be ascribed to the precedent set by previous leaders of the country. Eventually all the

campaigning and debating will come to an end in one final event. Before this event however, the
media will perform its final task and inform the country of who is going to be the chosen leader.

Every time the media has performed this task, they have predicted the outcome with pinpoint

accuracy, utilizing their resources such as their advanced neurological graphs of every citizen’s

brainwaves and their unbiased calculations that have been gathered until this point. Nevertheless,

our country still conducts a national poll on a decided day to determine the people’s choice in a

leader. Once one of the selected candidates has been chosen, they now lead the country of

Marenia. Unfortunately they are now subject to increased criticism from the general public. If

there isn’t something crucial to the political world that the leader is messing up such as a crooked

tie, the public will find details far less important to ostracize our leader for. Overall though, the

amount of criticism is what will later define the leader in history, not the lack of it. Additionally

other factors will come into play, such as our countries famed green flower. This flower has a

random cycle of blooming and closing its buds, and is placed in the leader’s bedroom. It is the

leader’s responsibility to water this flower every night, with water that has been recycled from

the public for ages. If the flower blooms during the leader’s reign, even if it is due to the

watering a previous leader has done, that leader is who will go down in history as the one who

made our green flower bloom. Once again, the beloved media will be there to cover the

blossoming of this flower, and will zoom in to their full ability on the bud least infected with life.

Unfortunately, there are in fact poor decisions made at times. Marenia has come to realize, that

the people, rather than the leader of the people, know what is best for the country and how to run

it. We have recently developed a system where citizens are chosen at random from the

population to become the decision makers for a chosen issue. The choices made from these

individuals have so much benefited our society as a whole, and will continue to do so. We have

been able to participate in wars we wouldn’t have even had the chance to start if it weren’t for

this new leadership concept. The system is working as spectacularly as it has from the start.
In conclusion, our country has minor discrepancies in its system, but what country does

not? Marenia will forever reign supreme in its ways, and I can only hope to have given you a

glimpse of what other countries should strive to model. Our country will continue to provide as

the grand mediator for this world, and will leave fragments of our excellence wherever we shall

tread. This world is not becoming divided through our means; this world is divided by the cause

of powers that oppose us. An action must have a cause, and where that action is a cause, the

cause for that action provides the ultimate cause. Although it pains me to acknowledge any

higher power than my country, I feel something must be the sole attribution to our success aside

from our endless wit, and so I say: God bless Marenia.
