CYME Power Engineering Software

New Features CYME 5.04

Cooper Power Systems is proud to announce the release of the latest CYME
5.04 Power Engineering Software. CYME 5.04 extends its analytic and design
capabilities with new engineering analysis tools, new equipment modeling
capabilities and enhancements in one-line diagram editing and reporting
functionalities. CYME 5.04 is a comprehensive and reliable tool that satisfies the
need of power engineers working with any distribution, industrial and transmission
network.

CYME 5.04 for Distribution, Industrial and Transmission Systems

With the numerous enhancements and additions to the
software, this new version of CYME continues to deliver
quality and cutting-edge solution for distribution, industrial and
transmission system studies.
Growing alongside the Distributed Energy Resources (DER)
developments, CYME continues to invest in its ability to address
the needs of engineers who need tools to study various aspects
of DER interconnection. New tools include:
Long-Term Dynamics Analysis
Single-phase DER short-circuit contribution
Anti-Islanding protection for inverter-based distributed
generation (DG)
Analyses such as Load Flow, Optimal Capacitor Placement
and Harmonics have been enhanced with new options. The
new Fault Flow calculation engine is more robust and effective,
while fully supporting complex phase merging configurations like
most CYME analyses do. Optimal Power Flow (OPF) analysis,
an advanced system planning tool, has also been added. An
improved Advanced Project Management tool provides you a
powerful tool to create scenarios, compare, correct and merge
your study files in order to make your project planning hasslefree.
Equipment modeling capabilities have been extended with the
addition of new equipments and enhancements of existing
ones. Voltage regulator modeling now offers the by-phase
type and recognizes the distinction of its construction type.
Overhead line modeling has been revamped with detailed
spacing modeling. New additions to the equipment library
include busway, switchable shunt banks and more.

System Analysis
Smart Grid Solution with Optimal Power Flow

CYMEs Optimal Power Flow (OPF) analysis

is an advanced system planning tool which
automatically finds optimal device settings
to satisfy selected objectives within specific
constraints. It is a powerful solution for
system performance optimization and costefficiency improvement.

CYME 5.04 for Distribution, Industrial and Transmission Systems.

FACTS Devices

To complement the implementation of

transmission line models, FACTS devices
have been added. These devices are:
STATCOM
UPFC

A choice of 11 different objectives is

offered, and they can be used individually or
simultaneously. Among these objectives are:
Minimize reactive power losses

DC Links

Minimize load shedding

CYME 5.04 has also incorporated the design

of HVDC links.

Maximize flat voltage profile

Minimize fuel cost
Controllable system variables include
generator power settings, transformer tap
settings, load participating in load shedding
and switchable reactive bank control.

Detailed rectifier and inverter transformer

modeling
Harmonic spectrum according to rectifier
and inverter parameters

New Features

Transmission and Industrial

System Analysis
Variable Frequency Drive

The variable frequency drive (VFD) can now be

represented as separate equipment with its
own database and network settings. The VFD
can now be connected to an induction motor
with a secondary cable and offers speed
control for motor starting analysis purposes.
Depending on the operating frequency, the
VFD can either be in constant current or in
constant power operating mode.

series unbalance conditions
Simultaneous faults which could be a
shunt fault at more than one location or a
combination of shunt and series faults.

Anti-Islanding Protection
