Easter Break
th
13 April

Prayer for the Week

Lord, we thank you for the wonderful term weve had. Thank you for the courage youve given each of us to
stand with strength, determination and vigour in the midst of exams, stress and unpredicted circumstances.
Grant us all a blessed Easter and a reviving school break.
We make this prayer through Christ, our Lord.
Amen

Headteachers Comments
Children Services Committee
On Tuesday afternoon five of our students made superb presentations to the Children Services Committee
which is a committee of councillors and local authority representatives. Rebecca Blair and Olivia Benson
outlined the work they have been doing as part of the Young Inspectors Team. Annabelle Napper, Jake
Hornsey and Lois Joynt gave a presentation of their work on the Holocaust Memorial Project. The
presentations were fantastic and it was a pleasure to hear the very positive comments about our students
afterwards.

Public Speaking
On Friday evening I accompanied Lois Joynt, Molly Marshall and Rose Allen to Linlithgow in Scotland where
they took part in the latest round of the National Rotary Club Competition.

Rotary Club Photography Competition

Well done to all students who took part in the Rotary Club National Photography Competition. The winner
of the Hartlepool round was Adam Gofton (for the second year running) and the runner up was Zarron
Barnes. Both students received a cheque for their efforts and Adam goes on to the District Competition

School Council
Last week we had an excellent School Council meeting in which a number of issues were raised. Many
topics were discussed such as catering, security and revision classes. The House Representatives were
superb in representing all students.

Y11
I am currently reading through all of the Y11 progress reviews and it is very encouraging that our students
seem to be timing their run in to exams perfectly. Well done to all Y11 students and I would ask all
students to respect the fact that Y11, Y12 and Y13 students are at a critical time in their careers.

TIMS Mathematics Testing

Y9 students last week were asked to take part in an international exam of Maths and Science. The results
of these exams are compared between countries to make some judgements about the relative
performance of schools across the world.
The examiner thanked all our students for the way they approached the exam and he described their
conduct as impeccable. Well done.

Spelling of the Week

Which of these is the correct spelling?
Always or
Allways
