Mustang Al Hejailan Consultants - June 2008 to June 2011
Al Khobar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. (Seconded to Halcrow project team).
Position: Civil Engineer/Inspector
Client: Red Sea Gateway Terminal, Jeddah, KSA.
Project: New deepwater terminal at the Jeddah Islamic Port (JIP).
The project involved the construction of 1 kilometre of quay wall with associated
C
dredging and land reclamation for a container storage and handling area. ontract
value SAR 1,000 million.
Duties included the following:
Review of contractors method statements and risk assessments.
Monitoring onsite working to ensure compliance with project Health and
Safety plan and work item Method Statement.
Attending site meetings to provide input relating to Quality or progress related
issues. Supervision of marine works, including dredging operations and precast block placement.
Set up of local grid for quay wall block alignment.
Surveying positions of precast block as related to a local grid using a total
station and automatic level.
Pre-pour inspection for in-situ concrete placement.
Surveys of revetment rock placement using echo sounder and total station.
Supervising diving inspections of quay wall foundations and block positions.
Processing raw bathymetric survey data using Hypack survey software.
Reviewing hydrographic survey reports.
Keeping daily records of events on site and reporting to the Chief Resident
Engineer regarding contractor's progress and performance.
Reviewing payment applications for underwater works and related onshore
works.

Site Engineer
Buckingham Contracting Limited - March 2008 to April 2008
Client: Prologis
Project: Minworth Distribution Centre
Constructing the infrastructure for a four unit Prologis distribution centre.
Buckinghams portion of the works included the construction of the estate roads
including two roundabouts and widening the River Thame for a flood alleviation
sceme.

Duties:
Setting out line and level, supervision of subcontractors, record keeping and as-built
surveys. Responsible for the supervision of one Junior Engineer and two chainmen.

Site Engineer
Thomas Vale Construction limited - Blackheath - February 2008 to March 2008
GOALS
Client:
GOALS football complex at Blackheath
Project:
This project was for the construction of eleven football pitches with an associated
clubhouse on an old sports ground in Blackheath near Birmingham.
Duties:
Marking out the site boundaries. Setting out for earthworks and the clubhouse
foundations. Mapping existing services.

Site Engineer (Roads)


Interserve - January 2008 to February 2008
Client: Highways Agency
Project: A1 Colsterworth Junction Upgrade.
This contract involves the removal of roundabouts and the congestion they caused along the A1 in
Leicestershire. The majority of the work involved the construction of roundabouts and link roads for three new
bridges.
Duties:
Subcontractor supervision, setting out line and level, ensuring QA/QC and HSE
procedures are followed, record keeping and as built surveys. Responsible for the supervision of two junior
engineers and three chainmen.
August 07 to January 08
Working for self on a house renovation project in Wolverhampton.

Site Engineer
Blackwells - April 2007 to August 2007
Client: Telford and Wrekin Council.
Project: Telford Millennium Community.
Infrastructure works for the construction of 750 houses in Ketley, Telford,
Shropshire. Works being undertaken included the construction of an underground
recycling bin system which involved the construction of a cast in situ structure with pre-cast inserts. Other
structural works included the construction of a retained earth
wall above a 3.5m dia culvert with an integrated pre-cast parapet wall and cast in situ
beam. The construction of various road works with associated drainage and embankments was also involved.
Duties:
Subcontractor supervision, setting out line and level, ensuring QA/QC and HSE

procedures are followed, record keeping and as built surveys. Responsible for the supervision of one junior
engineer.

Site Engineer
Norwest Holst - September 2006 to February 2007
Client: Walsall Borough Council.
Project:
Walsall Town Centre Transport Package. Construction of a new ring road in Walsall
town centre. This included the construction of a new rail bridge, canal bridge, various
service diversions, drainage and retaining walls.
Duties:
Setting out line and level, ensuring QA/QC and HSE procedures were followed,
record keeping, as built surveys and general site supervision. Responsible for the supervision of a junior site
engineer and two chainmen.

Site Engineer
Alfred McAlpine - June 2006 to September 2006
Client: Buckinghamshire County Council.
Project:
Construction of the new Stoke Hammond bypass and its related structures. This
included two road bridges, two roundabouts and various culverts and drains.
Duties:
Responsible for setting out line and level, as built surveys, material testing, existing
service location and ensuring QA/QC and HSE procedures were followed.

QA/QC Engineer
Mohammed A. Al Kharafi & Sons W.L.L, Kuwait - KW - June 2005 to March 2006
Client: Kuwait Oil Company (KOC).
Project:
Upgrading the oil gathering centres and booster stations located in the Burgan area of the Southern Kuwait
oilfields. The scope of work included the construction of new
roads, drainage, evaporation ponds, bund walls, new substation buildings and existing
control room extensions.
Duties:
Preparation of project specific quality control plans. Responsible for the preparation of work procedures and
inspection and test plans. Ensuring materials and workmanship conform to the relevant drawings, standards
and specifications.
Ensuring that the document and data control procedures have been established,
implemented and maintained. Coordination of internal and external inspection for shop works and site. Report
and provide information to the company QC department regarding test documentation. Attending the specified
quality related inspections.

Site Engineer
McPhillips Civil Engineering Ltd - Wellington - June 2003 to June 2005
Clients: Wimpey Homes, Persimmon Homes, Severn Trent Water Authority,
Telford and Wrekin Council. Shropshire County Council.

Projects:
Installing roads and drainage for new housing development at Bermuda Park,
Nuneaton for Wimpey Homes. Alteration and resurfacing work on the Holmer Farm
Road, Stirchley, Telford. Installing new stormwater drainage for Severn Trent Water
Authority at various locations in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. Major highway works
including traffic island alterations, road widening and re-surfacing of the A49 near
Wellington, Shropshire.
Duties:
Responsible for all setting out of line and level, site records update, materials
measures plus site management. Working with the foremen to ensure that the quality of the work meets with
contractual obligations. Directly responsible for the supervision and training of one junior engineer.

Site Engineer
Midland Site Services - Oldbury - September 2002 to May 2003
Oldbury, West Midlands, UK. Specialists in site survey and setting out for the construction industry.
Position: Site Engineer.
Clients: Norwest Holst, Staffordshire County Council.
Projects:
Construction of a new water pumping station in Coventry for Norwest Holst. New
roads and bulk earthworks relating to the construction of a major new industrial park
connected to the M6 toll road development in Staffordshire.
Duties:
The Supervision of road gangs. Setting out and volume measurement for bulk
earthworks using a Leica 500 GPS system and Leica robotic total station. Pumping
station construction work included the supervision of a piling subcontractor and the installation of below ground
thrust blocks for a 600mm diameter high pressure water
main.

Commercial Diving Engineer


- September 1993 to September 2002
working for a number of diving contractors around the UK.
Position: Commercial Diving Engineer.
Clients: Included the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA),
Shetland Islands Ports and Harbours Authority. Sizewell B power
station.
Duties:
Services provided included seabed surveys, harbour wall condition surveys and outfall inspections.

Junior Site Engineer


R&H Contracts Ltd - Cliffe - July 1991 to August 1992
Client: Tarmac.
Project:
Major cut and fill earthworks project for the removal, disposal and grading of overburden from the quarry site.

Duties:
Setting out line and level. Timekeeping for subcontract plant machinery. Site record
keeping.

Trainee Diesel Engineer


Finning Ltd - Cannock - August 1987 to September 1989
Cannock, Staffordshire. The main distribution and sales
centre for Caterpillar construction machinery in the midlands and northern UK.
Position: Trainee Diesel Engineer.
Duties: Repair and maintenance of Caterpillar construction plant equipment.
OTHER INFORMATION:
I enjoy foreign travel and during the period July 93 to Sept 93 I spent eight weeks
travelling through Thailand and Vietnam. April and May of 2006 was spent travelling in Argentina and Chile.
