HOURS:

Part Time 10 hours (to be agreed)

STIPEND:

10.00 per hour

HOLIDAYS:

23 days pro rata exclusive of Bank Holidays

JOB SPECIFICATION:
Summary of Role:
The role of the Project Worker is supported by Hedge Funds Ireland on a fixed term
contract for 1 Year and based in Smithfield, Dublin 7. The Project Worker Interns role will
contribute to the work of EPIC through disseminating information knowledge and
experience to safeguard children and young people in the care system. The successful
candidate will be involved in presentations to social care/social work professionals, foster
carers and other relevant parties in the area of child protection. The Project Worker
intern will be involved in the development of educational tools for training purposes and
facilitation of training to impact on social care/social work practice to promote child
protection and wellbeing.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Development of training materials to promote child protection


Delivery of training, presentations and workshops to social care/social work
professionals, social care students, foster carers and related groups

Participate in training, supervision and professional development


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

The suitable candidate must be aged 18 or over


Have Care Experience
Have Leaving Certificate or Equivalent
Knowledge of the Care System

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Good communication and interpersonal skills


Ability to communicate with groups
Proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
Ability to work with other EPIC staff as required on suitable projects and tasks as
directed.
Ability to work as a part of a team in co-operation with other team members
Attend and actively participate in team meetings

Some knowledge of child protection of the NGO and childrens charity sectors.
Awareness of issues of privacy, safety and security in the internet and in social media.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

Some work experience, paid or voluntary in any capacity


An understanding of or experience of working with young people in a voluntary or paid
capacity, i.e. youth work, sports clubs, scouts etc
Experience of Public Speaking and delivering presentations

The successful candidate will be subject to Garda Vetting.
