Parish Mission Statement

Easter Sunday of the

Resurrection of the Lord

St. Damien of Molokai is a Catholic parish family which recognizes and embraces the gifts and talents of our faith filled people. The life of our patron saint inspires us to lead lives of love,
hope and charity. Moving forward, we will grow through our
liturgy, teachings and outreach to all, with the help of God and
the gifts received through the Holy Eucharist.

He had to rise from the dead.

John 20:9
Jesus, thank you for the great sign of your
resurrection! Lord, I believe, help me believe
and trust and love even more.

H A P P Y E A S T E R
This and every Easter we are reminded that Jesus is very much alive for he has been
raised from the dead for the sake of our eternal lives. May we celebrate with joy
the promise of the resurrection and continue to proclaim the saving mystery of our
faith: Christ has died, Christ is Risen, Christ will come Again.

Thank You to all who helped with Easter celebrations!

We extend our heartfelt thank you to all those who have worked so hard during Holy Week to enhance our
sacred liturgical celebrations. Most especially we thank:
Stephanie Kotsenas and her team for their planning and decorating of the churches during the week.
Music Ministry for their weeks of preparation and their beautiful music during the Holy Week liturgies
Liturgical Ministers for exercising all of the important liturgical functions that enhance our worship.
Youth for their help with the Easter Egg Hunt and altar serving
St. Damien parish family is truly blessed with many generous souls.
GOD BLESS EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU!

Fish Fry Thank You

We offer a special word of thanks to Deacon Al and all those who volunteered to help with our
Ash Wednesday and Fridays of Lent Fish Fries. The food offered was delicious and plentiful
and the profits from the fund raiser were very beneficial to the parish!
RAVIOLI THANKS

We offer a hearty thank you to our ravioli chairperson Carol Pollock

and her whole team of ladies who helped make the delicious ravioli.
These ladies put in a lot of time and effort for this very successful fundraiser!

DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY April 12th

The Saint Damien Holy Name Society and Catholic Mens Fellowship Organization invite all
to come celebrate the Feast of Divine Mercy on Sunday, April 12th at 3:00pm in the church.
We will pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy as we ask our God and Father that through His son, our
Lord Jesus, He will have mercy on us and on the whole world which is in such desperate need of
His mercy. We will also venerate the image of Divine Mercy of which our Lord said I am offering
people a vessel to which they are to keep coming for graces; the fountain of my mercy. That vessel has
the signature Jesus, I trust in you. Please remember our Lord promised to open the floodgates of His
mercy on this day. His most special gift of mercy is the promise that the soul that goes to Confession and
receives Holy Communion on the feast day will obtain complete forgiveness of their sins and the punishment for those sins. May we all take advantage of this great gift of mercy from our Lord who is so desperate for your love.

ST. ANTHONY NOVENA

The Solemn 13-week Novena to St. Anthony will continue this week after the 8:00 am Mass on Tuesday. Let
us come together to honor St. Anthony and ask his help for the special needs that each of us has.

Pastoral Impressions by Fr. Bill

ALLELUIA! ALLELUIA! ALLELUIA!
Happy Easter Everyone! ALLELUIA! HE IS
RISEN! It is so wonderful to gather and celebrate as a people of faith, to celebrate an incredible sacred mystery, a mystery beyond
anything we can imagine or hope for, a mystery which clearly shows the immense power
of love over everything else. This is a mystery which reveals to us a God who loves us
in ways we cant even begin to understand,
wants the very best for each of us, knows
what we are going through---and is willing to
do whatever it takes to keep us close to him
and to one another. That is the loving God
who is intimately connected to and involved
with our lives and our world. And so we rejoice! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
Sometime we are burdened with sufferings
and difficulties and we think that no one cares. Today is a day to put those thoughts
aside , put them to rest, and instead recognize
and trust in and rejoice in an image of God
unlike any god humankind has ever imagined
or tried to understand. For God to do what he
did, he must love us beyond our wildest
imagination. For God to suffer as he did he
must want to know in a concrete way what
we feel like when we are hurting. For God to
allow himself to die he must want us to know
that he is willing to go anywhere and do anything for us---that love conquers all and that
no matter what happens in this life, we have
nothing to fear. Love wins. Life wins. God
wins.
And so, we rejoice, for this is GOOD
NEWSthe very best kind of news. May
this day fill you with a peace and joy beyond
your wildest expectations. We are not alone.
Never have been. NEVER WILL BE. Believing that deeply changes everything. Alleluia!
He is Risen!
