There are questions that need to be talked about in a public forum.
Is the VP of Student Life just a reallocation of representative responsibilities?

Reps work always seems to overlap with VPs, the VPs help direct and support
the reps. Validates the issues.
It creates a great space for someone to have a legitimate title to interact with
administration about important issues.
Position of intentionality about student culture and hold the reps accountable to
that.
As the student body grows
So you think that the committee will actually effectively function the way that its
conceptualized now.
A great space for people who need to talk but dont get to talk.
Worth talking to the people who could potentially be there to see what they think.
Concerned about the bureaucracy of the committees under the VP.
Looking at the director of diversity and student care--how would they overlap?
Does lowering the number of reps actually achieve our goals (after analysing other
schools, hoping to provide accountability, make sure that things are more efficient.)
It wouldnt automatically make reps more efficient. Need to make sure we do that
in other ways too
Not sure about the efficiency argument--it seems the more reps means the more
work that gets done.
But, it seems that it does help reps be more accountable to being efficient.
Less positions means more competition which means people take the job more
seriously.
Last years GCSA worked with 10 reps total.
Make it a little more manageable to have teamwork and make the leadership
easier for the executive cabinet
It would be nice to have more leadership and organization from the VP or
Student life, the reps need more leadership and this position might help that.
The reps need more leadership, need to learn to help hold people accountable,
would love a position of rep leadership.
Maybe leadership doesn't need to be official and institutionalized-- a lot of the
problems this year are because we are all unexperienced reps.
Changed the amendment section to allow any member of the Student Government to
present an amendment--along the same lines as old constitution but misworded originally.
Abel, motion to table
Michael, seconded
Approved, 9-3
VI. Representative Initiatives
