1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 RESEARCH TITLE
Using A Cappella to enhance year 5 pupils motivation in ESL classroom.
1.2 REFLECTION (PAST PRACTICUM)
I did my second practicum at SK Jalan Baharu, Parit Buntar, Perak last semester.
During the two-month practicum session, I have taught two different classes, both
were Year 4 classes. The teaching and learning session went quite well and there is
not much problems that I can sense. The only thing that I can sense during most of
my lesson was the students motivation in their learning. I cannot say they do not
know what they learn but the motivation in their learning affect their behaviour
towards the learning thus making the learning less meaningful to them, even though
they know what they learn. The impact of the learning was not very effective. It
happen most of the time and it is likely to occur during the practice stage. It is when I
start to drill the students. They show a great no in their learning but most teacher, I
believe, they cannot sense this because during the production stage, eventually, they
can do what we ask them to do. The problem is they did not enjoy what they were
doing. The excitement is not there in the learning process, I can sense that. It leads
to disapproval of their mind to actually continue to study and this will lead to another
problems that may cause the lesson less meaningful and less effective and their
attitudes towards the learning, it is a major disappointment to me, the learning
objectives were achieved but my heart, somehow, it felt something which makes me
feel so uneasy.
2.0 FOCUS OF INVESTIGATION/ISSUES OF CONCERN
2.1 Research Issue / Problem Statement.
From the past teaching practice for two months teaching English for Year 4. I found
out that the pupils were lack of motivation in their learning.
2.2 Research Topic
Using A Cappella to enhance year 5 students motivation in ESL classroom. The
focus for my Action Research is the students motivation in the learning.
